Default Model names

Well I guess the Model names will be the LS for the V6, LT for the V8 and SS for the V8. What does everyone think of that? I mean they dropped the Z28 name, you think that would of stuck especially with the retro classic look.

I guess I dont understand the retro look causing the Z28 to depart. You are aware that there was a fist gen Z28 just like there was a 1st gen SS. And so far what Ive seen has shown 2 V6s and 3V8s one economy, one a Z28 and one an SRT8 like image builder i.e. SS.

There's no proof of this anywhere. Trim levels have not been released. OP, don't state your opinion as fact please.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Slated to bow in the first quarter of 2009 as an early 2010 model, it's expected that the Camaro will be offered in three trim levels — LS, LT and SS. The base LS may be powered by Chevy's 3.5-liter pushrod V-6 making about 220 bhp. The LT models would use the overhead-cam direct-injected 3.6-liter V-6 developing upward of 300 bhp, while the SS will be powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 (similar to that found in the Corvette) tuned to produce around 400–405 bhp. A year after launch, Chevy will introduce a convertible version and after that a high-performance Z28 model with a super-charged 6.2-liter sibling to the Corvette ZR1's LS9 motor known as the LSA. That engine would make somewhere in the neighborhood of 480–500 bhp and is similar to the engine used in the upcoming Cadillac CTS-V.

There is no way in hell GM is going to drop the Z28 name. My opinion is to call the V6 what every you want I don't care, but the V8's should be Z28 and or SS. I suggest that the Z28 be the car with the killer handling and the SS could be the one with lesser suspension set up and more brutal power. How about the Z28 to get the 18's wheels (no freakin 19, 20,...etc) the Bilstein shocks (maybe the magnaride), bigger swaybars, and heavier springs (kind of like a WS6 Firebird) and the SS to have 17 wheels and lighter duty suspension still make it handle well just not the killer a Z should be. Both models could carry the same driveline, the Z28 needs to stay a more balanced car with its ability to handle well which might require a slightly detuned engine. Now I know all the Z28 lovers are going to say that the Z28 must be the most powerful, but in the day of both Z28 and SS Camaros the SS was the HP king (375hp 396) and the Z28 (290hp really 320hp 302) was the best in the corners with a great balance of power and handling. This is just a suggestion. If GM does a special edition model with the engine from the CTS-V (550 hp LSA) then how about doing like the Z06 thing but use the option code from the dual quad for the 1st gen Z28's.

GMs only obvious plan with the Camaro is to be competitive. In order to do that they require a base V8 model. With that they are commiting automotive suicide 300hp V6 or not. I agree that artical is probably worthless

Due to the rising gas prices it could be a dinosaur looking to slowly go to extinction. Just watch Mad Max 2. She's the last of the V8s!

You guys are missreading the article. If you read the article you would see that the Z28 is going to be the new top model with the super charged LSA motor released a year after the first model year. The LS and LT are to distiguish betwen V6 models the 3.5 L and the 3.6 L DI caddy motor. There is a reason for having two V6's the DI motor gets horrible gas milage and they might put the ecotec turbo four in the LS model. But no where in that article does it say that they are getting rid of the Z28 name.

Git er dun! I'm still torn on the styling. I like the shark look of the 98+ models. It's going to take a while to get use to the new camaro.

Both those articles are guessing. I don't know why anyone takes any stock in to these. We'll have the information in a month or so when it's released officially.
