Plug has been pulled on the Camaro
I am going to sell the SS 4000 & put back in my Vig 3200 to get some better mileage around town. This thread might get the most view award of all time
13500 mi/yr at 20 mpg at lets say $5.00/gal for premium = $3375
for $3.00/gal = $2025
the difference is $1350 which I hate to say, but...can easily be tacked on to the cost of the vehicle itself if a cost-of-gas incentive was offered. Really think about it. If they offered a $1500 dollar incentive that covered the cost of gas or they did something (like other people are doing *cough* $2.99 anyone?) where they dramatically reduced the cost of gas per fill-up eventually adding up to $1500 (or some other amount), my guess is that people would be willing to "pay a little extra" on msrp.
It makes good casual conversation too..."My prius gets a million-bajillion miles per gallon, so $5.00 per gallon isn't too bad" versus "my new V8 camaro only gets 20 miles to the gallon average but it's not bad since I am only paying 3 bucks a gallon for gas right now."
...just a little thought, but I'm sure some of you can elaborate more on the economics behind this.

we didnt have a tuning aid when the ls1's first came out in 97'
now we have a whole specific aftermarket bracket for LSX

so i think the camaro will be able to be tuned since day 1
And those gas incentives aren't always worth it really, both for the consumer and for the company. You're better off taking very low or 0% rates if available or a couple thousand dollar rebate. Not that they're going to be offering those kind of finance deals on the Camaro when it first comes out, but generally speaking.
The new Camaro is going to be low volume and have a short life... probably less than 5 years. It was already rumored that GM has indeed decided to pull the plug after a very limited production run.
When GM "envisioned" the new Camaro... they never thought gas would be $4+ per gallon gas. By the time the new Camaro is here... gas will be likely $6 to 7 a gallon.
Just as they are now saying SUVs are basically done.... so are performance cars.... at least low end ones.
