Since we already have a few other threads that have been ruined by whiners and trolls, I went ahead and cleaned this thread up. I'll allow this thread for the constructive and positive discussion of the Camaro.

Anyone posting bitches/moans/gripes or trolling this thread will get banned for a week. Just because I can

the new camaro looks good and i am sick of all ofthe people complaining
1. price= it has to be higher than before becasue of inflation, materials, engineering manufacturing, etc.
2. weight= nobody is going to complain about their comfy interior when they are driving around in it on a hot sunny day, not too mention better materials usually weigh more, ie ferrari vs vette, fit finish will be better, all of the extra electrical equipment for all of the fancy stuff we love these days, and you wont even notice it becasuse the car is BALANCED very well 52/48 I believe, please people enjoy it we asked for it...

How can you not be happy with the car; it's been gone since 2002? Anything is better than nothing..

Fortunately there wasn't an interent when the 67 Camaro came out. It sold but everyone didn't buy one. No single car, even the VW bug will ever make everyone happy.

Now the long wait until someone actually buys it and takes it for a spin. By then we'll have a ton of LS3 mods ready thanks to the vette getting a head start.

I'm really excited about the power potential. How much do vettes dyno at stock?

I don't see 500 to the wheels with a cam, 490 and 10.80 is not average, cam only ls1's have broken 10's, but who's counting The 5th gen SS will certainly put down some awesome numbers once mods begin, so no I'm not bashing the powerplant by any means, but let's not get too carried away.

Back in the early LS1 days, I owned the FIRST heads/cam LS1 to break 400 rwhp. Back then, nobody said that could be achieved either, they thought 380 rwhp was high. Now we have heads/cam LS1s pushing mid-400s with ease.

Lesson: Give it some time, the LS3 is not fully developed mod-wise.

If the base V8 is 28k, then I bought the wrong car. For the sake of "comeback", they should price the car as low as you say.

I hope that's the case. If it is and I like the ride, comfort, and interior, then I'll take an A6 red one with black racing stripes. Put a roots blower on it, CAI, catback, and a tune and call it a day.

I love the car inside and out.

I am a bit disapointed by the Curb Weight. it's 100 lbs more than the GTO with 22 hp more, that to me says it will perform about the same at the GTO, there is no way the Camaro will hit 12's except on a perfect -2000 DA day with excellent track prep and a top driver.

As for as the Mustang it will once again retain it's Best bang for the buck.
13.6 @ 105 Stock for under 30K. with just an intake an tune (400 bucks) the mustang sees 13.3 all day long and still under 30K. I would be supprised if the SS base comes in below 32K.

I bought my 05 Mustang for 26K, added $2860.00 in Bolt on parts and run 12.41 @ 109 that still is under 30K not bad for what it is.....

Sure, if you start Modding the 6.2L that thing will be a monster, and with a tune and intake the Camaro will be in the 12's all day long I have no doubt about that, thats what GM is all about. More Cubes, More Power.

Thats one dissapointment I have with the Mustang, I feel they should have gone to the 5.4L Aluminum. it needs more cubes to get the power.

The Camaro V6 also is way behind on Torque, that will also keep it lower in the 1/4 mile besides weight.
I just wanted to commend the mustang guy on a great no bs response thats not full of hate, etc... I don't think it will have a problem with high 12's all day though. GM rated iat at 13.4 and you know thats conservative.

I had an 05 GT also and it wasn't a bad car, just underpowered IMO.

At the risk of being banned:
It is too late. $4/gal gas does not leave room for a market with a Mustang, Camaro and Challenger. No Z28 at launch is a bummer. Why hold back GM? 8 years isn't a long enough wait?

Good things!-
Brembo brakes
LS3
True dual exhaust.
Wider choice of color and interior enhancements

Get carried away? I have also seen over 500rwhp cam only. and this is just the beginning (as nine ball has said). I would even have to say we might see close to 550 one day if it mirrors what has happened with the ls1. Hell my little 346 with 90k on the clock made close to 450rwhp dynojet (418 mustang dyno with no tricks on a very hot humid day)

go ahead and look at some dyno numbers...490 to the wheels is in no way exceptional. solid...yes. just depends how big you want to go and how much driveability you want to loose.

that was a good one about a cam shooting out nitrous though...nice try.

Yes, I was on ls1.com back then (still not sure why I got banned haha). I remember those days very well, I'm no newbie. I believe it was Burger who convinced me to go with a "huge" MMS 229 cam lol. As far as the LS3 not being fully developed, there isn't a whole lot more to develop compared the ls1. If 500rwhp with stock heads actually becomes average, which it won't unless you want a powerband like a Supra, numbers for all factory LSX engines will go up.

Anyone remember the 5K dealer markup on the 02 SS and WS6? I'm wondering if something similar will happen. I've read that all 6000 of the new challengers are already sold at close to 10K over msrp, but that was read on the net.... Guess we'll just have to wait and see. A base LS1 02 camaro could have been bought for 22K and change after rebates. Then they replace it with a heavier, more expensive GTO errrr Grand Prix. Now that's gone and gas has doubled!
I'm almost done building my car anyway so taking on new payments and starting over is not an option.

i am digging the car, ls3, first thing i want to do is take the heads off and mill them .030 and add big cam, like a modern trex with lsk lobes and some diy headers,
that is if i dont buy a c5 or c6 before
