Default Does the torque guage make any sense?

Why did GM include a torque guage? Certianly there could have been more useful guages to have include. The biggest thing I don't get about it is, for the most aprt, the LSx has a pretty flat torque curve, so the guage is not really going to fluctuate. I would think an HP guage would have been more "informative," or at least more active in its fluctations.

Seems dumb to me too. I agree there could have been plenty of other gauges they could have put in there. It's just a stupid novelty gauge that will serve no actual purpose. Atleast the other ones are useful.

just hope they aren't 'dummy' gauges like the coolant gauge in 99+ ls1 f-bodies

i was thinking as long as its acuurate it might be fun to watch. if it jumps all over the place or just stays in one spot that would suck.

Maybe they were going to put the boost gauge there for the Z28.... just needed something to stick in there for now.

Default maybe they're being sneaky

Joe and Joelina Average know a little about horsepower, but don't even know that torque exists. It could be a little customer education when they notice- "hmm, I accelerate the best when that them there torque gage is topped out."

And the next time they go car shopping, they might be interested to look up the torque numbers as well as HP.

And GM might be hoping that they say to themselves, "gee, those GM LSx products have a lot of torque. That means it'll be fun to drive. I'll buy a GM!"

A clever plan, indeed! muahaha!

It's a gimic just like the interior "light tubes". I wonder how much that lighting stuff costs/weighs.

^ Who woulda thought! I imagine it will be dialed into what the RPM's register. Would that make it dummy? I mean, lets say you V8 has 4 cylinders with bad compression, the guage wouldnt reflect the torque loss???

It's so you know when the torque management nanny is taking over.

Way more to it than that. Throttle position would have to be included with RPMS.

No, it does not make sense...but I love the new gauges. No sense...but it is cool. Kinda like the power gauge on the Bug.

The 99+ LS1's had a "coolant gauge." However, it was not functional.

The TQ reading wont be exactly what the engine is putting out. Think of it as a preset. GM knows what TQ levels the engine puts out from 100 rpm to redline. IMO, the TQ reading on the guage will be derived from the RPM configuration, hence a dummy guage.

But how do the temp gauges on the ls1s work if they're not functional, what are they running off of
