And the Gto was 33,000 startin out. If the challenger is 30 grand then that is a good comparison. 2004 gto vs the new challenger r/t.

When i went back last friday to the track, there were 4-5 GTOs running, all were in the 13.9-14.0 range trapping @ 99-100 mph, Sure they are making these cars have more rwhp, but they weigh more, i don't know why they do that, but it must be goverment regulations, i still can't see spending 35-40K for these cars in 08-09 to run what we are running in a 90s model, kind-of stupid i'de say, but thats just me. Those new mustangs were running good, they were in the mid-low 13s @ 107-108

a LS1 GTO with a driver run 13.4-.5s stock . 2004-05 run 13.1s! im pretty sure that the challenger will be alot faster than 14.0s closer to 13.4s or .6s. the fastest stock 3v i have seen went 13.7s

I saw a Challenger at the track this past tuesday. I only watched one run from the tower. It ran a 13.66 @ 103.

Were talkin bout the R/T not the SRT8. The 2009 R/T isnt even out for another month. You guys are talking about SRT8's, i thought they would run a good bit faster than 13.66...more like 13 flat. but they have 55 more horsepower then the R/T

Thats more like it, wait till they start doing some simple mods & sticky tires, they will be in the mid. 12s easy.

If the 14 sec time is posted for a SRT8 Challenger, there's something really, really wrong, as the 300C and Charger SRT8 run faster than that bone stock.

The automatic 4150 pound srt8 challenger runs a 13.1.

I have just one question...seriously

Why are so many people on here doubting that the new camaro will hit 12's with a 6 speed at 3860lbs.?

20 inch rims? they are on both
power advantage? None....not worth mentioning at most...and the advantage to camaro in hp when looking at corvette at 430
gearing? none (advantage to camaro SS, its also not peg leg either)
aerodynamics? doubt it
weight?nope (advantage again to camaro)

why not 12's ALL DAY LONG? someone tell me

Hypothetically regarding .25 comparisons, if your gonna compare a RT to any GTO, then the RT gets about $2500 in mods. I say the RT @ 30k is a great price. It will compete well against the GT's. The SS will do well too as long as the msrp is decent. These are exciting times but its too bad we dont have ALL the specs.

we just gotta wait a little longer for the camaro... i dont see why it cant hit 12s or at least a 13.0.. Once people start getting the cars in their hands we can figure out what they can do.. these stupid mags are the most inconsistent thing on the planet and we all know that. But i think we are so hyped thats the only thing we are falling back on

Either you are at a high altitude or they need the driver mod...

Cost efficiency. They are using an already made chassis (large sedan) and thats why it weighs so much.
Those new mustangs were running good, they were in the mid-low 13s @ 107-108
Then they were not stock.
The new Mustangs are pretty much dead even with the 04 GTOs.
It took an 05 Mustang full bolt ons, tune, and 4.10 gears to put a nose out on me by 100mph, and I'm a shitty driver...

Motortrend got a 13.8 out of a convertible? Not too bad for a GT. Remember, this isnt 2002! The modded stang you raced should have smoked you? Your experience sounds a little fabricated. Im a shitty driver too when I get beat! Hey Chaman, pass the popcorn!

These mustangs (there were 2 of them) i'm sure were 08 models, they looked like special addition high dollar units, so not your run of the mill 08 GT, i can't remember what was on the back lower valance, i'm thinking it said "Spoun" or something like that, they looked pretty stock too, they were running good on street tires & so-so traction trapping 107-108, & yes i agree, it isn't 2002 lol.
