Default Local dealer already plans markup on new Camaro

A local dealership here in Charleston (WV) already has plans to markup the new camaros, $4K for V6 and $10K for V8. I currently have 2 camaros and had a WS6. I don't think that I'll be gettin a new camaro anytime soon. This just makes me sick.

Finally i'm gettin my Terminator!

That's about like saying the sun will rise in the east and set in the west. Pretty much a foregone conclusion that this would happen. I'll wait until they are sitting on lots, begging people to buy them at employee pricing.

i really hope they don't **** this up by doing that markup bullshit, which like Z Fury said, WILL inevitably happen. The G8 hasn't even sold 1 car per dealer yet, and A LOT is riding on the success of the Camaro (boy is that an understatement)

There is already one person turned away by GM's stupid *** dealers. I wouldn't pay over sticker either.

Think about this...they were charging slightly over sticker at some dealers when the G8 came out...now they can't give them away. What a joke.

For the month of July. Yes. Its sold more then 7500 cars in March-July.

Go to Camaro5.com and look up the MSRP or Less thread. Its a thread that has dealers all over the country that PROMISE to sell it for MSRP or less. You can order from them and get it drop shipped to your local dealer and wont have to pay them anything!

Why are you all getting so fussy about markups, they don't last and they are generally a good thing for vehicles. If a vehicle is marked up then generally it means it is doing well. Take the Hybrid example, manufacturers can't keep any in stock. Drive the Camaro and see how you feel about them THEN decide if a markup is worth it.

Yes.

Of course the dealers are going to try and mark it up, they're in business and they're struggling right now so they need to grab a little extra wherever they can, though I agree $5k - $10k mark ups are way out of line.
One can either find a dealer that will sell for MSRP (or less) or just wait it out a little bit, with fuel at these prices the cars won't still be flying out of showrooms 6-12 months after the car's initial release (though I'm sure that they will be at first).

Markups will be expected when it first comes out. The question is if they continue afterwards it just means that they are selling more than GM is producing which would be a good thing for the car. It just means you might have to wait another year to buy one. I'd hope that they go crazy with them for the first year or two, I don't plan on buying one then anyways.

No surprise, that's why I won't be buying anything until at least the 2011 model. Need to start saving anyway.

You need another vehicle like you need another hole in the head any way. I know atleast one person who will go postal if another one shows up in the driveway Finish the damn Z28 and then let's restore that 2nd gen. If that doesn't do it for ya, then you can always come down and work on my car.

Besides....you can wait and buy one of the second year cars without paying a mark up and that will hopefully have all the bugs worked out like I plan to

You just need to find the right dealer. I paid $1500 under sticker for my G8 when most dealers were charging $3-4k markup. There are dealers out there that will sell the 5th gen at sticker.

The simplest solution is to not buy at a markup, it's not hard.

The markup won't last more than 6 months tops. Supply will catch up with demand by then.
