Default 2016 Camaro pricing announced

Mostly... https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/2016-c...153000353.html

It's not covering everything, but this is the start we've been awaiting.

$37,300 for a base V8 = ouch...

I knew a 2SS would set me back over $40K, but now I'm thinking over $42-43K...

FAIL! This is an utter fail when someone can go get a loaded Mustang GT premium with the performance pack for 40k. Factor in dealer mark up and fees and we're going to see loaded 2SS 6th gens sitting on dealer lots with 50k price tags. Simply way too much for just a Camaro SS, especially when used gen 5 Zl1s are already easily found from 43-50k and will likely drop even more in the next year. GM clearly must be trying to kill the Camaro again.

I agree. The price is high. Is it worth it? I'm sure it is, but the price of new cars in general is ridiculous, not matter what brand.

Honestly, all new cars are silly expensive if you ask me. There is no earthly reason for the most basic Extended Cab 4x4 Full size trucks to break $30K. I am cool with vinyl floors and roll up windows. $25K for a loaded Cruze GTFO.

It's interesting when you use a CPI calculator from the BLS to compare the base prices of these cars and their steady increase. In 2002, the Camaro had a base price of $22,830, in 2015 dollars, that's a $30,284 base price, today a 1SS has a $34,800 base price. That's simply base MSRP, not what people actually paid for the cars. So you can see this isn't new, it's increasing basically the same amount each generation. But you also need to put in perspective the value of a dollar in comparison to what you're used to paying.

price has increased but a 6th gen is going to be a great car and imo worth it. this is a major upgrade over a 5th gen.
