16SS vs Stingray....Same dyno same day same gas both manuals

Both did 4 pulls.
Camaro + 4rwhp and +8rwtq.
That should end the debate.
The Camaro makes a bit more power with tri-y headers. It is also spinning 20 inch wheels.
Also funny considering the vette is rated at 460hp with the dual mode exhaust. Camaro is rated at 455hp with dual mode.
Camaro is also rated at 5 less tq than the corvette. And 10 less tq with the dual mode on the corvette. The tq is where the Camaro really outdid the vette...funny

Very impressive! I remember reading about a LS1 Camaro SS making like 5 more hp than a C5 LS1 Vette despite the 20 hp rated difference. It was done on the same dyno and same day as well

Back then, it was SRA vs IRS and drivetrain loss. We'll have ours on a dyno by the end of this week most likely.

Do two different Camaros head to head and you're liable to get different numbers. Build two engines to the exact same specs and the will produce different numbers. Proves nothing in my book. It's the same.

Totally agree!!! I don't think the guys at the engine plant are going to spend the extra time and costs to differentiate engine programming and cams to the LT1s that are going into Corvettes from the ones that are going into Camaros. This is where the the bean counters would step in and say that that would make so sense. And in this case they would be right. Just get an average HP and TQ rating and for purely marketing purposes assign the higher number to the more expensive car and assign the lower rating to cheaper car. If some enthusiast or a member of the motor press gets slick gets and puts the cheaper car on a dyno and get higher HP and TQ number. Well hooray for you. As long as the more expensive make its advertised HP and TQ rating. GM doesn't care. It keeps them out of getting lawsuits. Remember in the '90's when the Ford Mustang Cobra weren't making their advertised HP rating. That landed Ford in court and and a lot of egg on their faces.

Yes it has been proven on a few comparisons that the 2016 Camaro gets more power to the wheels than the LT1 Vette, but the Stingray is much lighter and hence faster. The 2016 Camaro SS is a beast though, and I am proud to own one.

At least the Corvette is still a great looking sports car. These new Camaros, 5th and 6th gen, have followed the trend other manufacturers took with oversized sports cars. The back half of them really don't have an aggressive sports car look and the new ones in particular look like a Dodge Challenger. The 4th gen was often criticized for its size but parked next to a 5th or 6th gen they look small. The Camaro could be rated with 100 hp more and be half the price but I'd still buy a Vette over it. The 5th gen Z28 was a really great concept and pretty good looking but needed to be scaled down in size a bit. Hopefully the Vette always keeps performance its number one priority.
