c5 zo6 or c6 z51
I just recently joined the armed forces(army), as some of you may know there are very large enlistment bonuses to be had right now, on the other hand the gov't of course taxes that and you receive that money over the course of your term in the army. Well with my current enlistment bonus being 40k, and being that i am selling my t/a (which will go to pay off CC bills to elave me in ZERO debt). I decided once stationed, which will be in about 6 months i am going to purchase a corvette.
Now my real question is c5 z06 or c6 z51.
I like both, obviously i could afford both that is not a concern.
However there is the close to 10k difference in price in most cases, the car would most like be full bolt-on's, and small cam. Now i know that the ls3 is a beast once cammed, but with the money i save from buying the c5 i could do a NICE h/c combo and still have money left over.
SOOOOO what do you guys think?

Yeah I have seen some C6's go for under 30k but I still even have my heart set on a C5Z as well....So my vote goes to the C5Z!!!
Thanks for serving our country! I got a few buddies of mine that are in the marines but luckily they aren't over seas.

I say get the c5 z06 and use the price difference on bolts ons + h/c.

Its not thats its better. The good side is your working with the LS based motor either way. It all depends which one you like more as far as looks. But go with the Z06. Like said the extra money you put in it you can have a nice ride. Unless you really want the C6.

if i were you i would save some of that money. i spent a few years active duty in the air force, and i wish i had started saving sooner than i did. dont get yourself into a situation where you are living paycheck to paycheck. i remeber working with a lot of guys that had nothing saved up for lifes curve *****. you said your bonus was 40k, that means 20k up front, and they will take at least a third of that in taxes. so probably around 13k for your first installment. i say put 3k in an hsbc online saving making decent interest, and 10k down on a nice c5. if you finance like 10k for 4 years you could have it payed off quick and not too bad of a payment. get an allotment set up with base finance for a little over your car payment and it will be payed off even sooner. you gotta figure in your insurance too, prob be higher on a c6. then maybe you could do your mods with your next bonus installment since it shouldnt be too far away
anyways i would lean more towards c5z or even a z51 c5. if you are gunna do a h/c package then would you really need a z06. i guess it really boils down to personal preference. i would much rather have the targa top, so i went with a coupe. i plan on doing h/c swap also
i did shop around for c6's for a while, but in the end i decided to spend 19 instead of like 29
P.S. thanks for serving man
