Default New SS truck Project

Hi, new here. Just sold the charged mustang and decided to put my time, effort and $$ into a chevy! I happen to have a 90 454 ss truck sitting at the house. It has 60k on it. Thinkin about buyin a crate motor and building a 800hp or so motor and throwing a lil bit of nitrous on it. Any ideas.. worth doing? It's a sharp looking truck, just don't know if i'm asking for trouble!
Anyway, whatcha think?

How about a big cubic inch Gen 3 or 4 motor, since your on a LSX site and all. Plenty of sponsors that can hook you up with what you are looking for.

Why not leave the SS stock and buy some regular truck to build? It could even just be a V6 if your gonna throw a different motor in anyways.

it's no fun stock. sloooooooowwww.. and gets 10mpg... it could be fast and get better? they don't pull in big money anyways. this truck is flawless 1 owner and would pull 10k at the MOST.

One with about 15k sold for almost 30 here. Mind you, they're harder to find too.

ZZ 502 crate motor gives you 500 flywheel to start with and stump pulling torque.

If you DO decide to keep that engine in it, get rid of that TPI set up. It makes a huge difference to everything else you add to it. I miss mine sooo bad. Stolen and stripped .

Go for it! I have a 1992 non-SS with a 350 that is my current DD. I plan to redo it some day. If I was redoing the engine now, I would go with maybe a lightly modded LS3 or a built 6.0 and spray it.

I say keep it a 454, but make it a 454 LSX! 6 Bolt heads and approx. 250-300 hit through a direct port system sounds about right!
