Default Double-Clutching

Does double-clutching help at the track or on the street or is it just better to powershift?

double clutching works great when you break the synchros in your tranny. Lay off the fast and the furious DVD's.

absolutely no need for it if you have synchros in your transmission.

truck drivers double clutch, it's basically the same thing as ricer math, but it's ricer logic.

Ol' Vin made double clutching famous. If you try to double clutch, prepare for your times to plumit as hard as the fast and furious movie line

is he double clutching on upshifts, downshifts, or both?

double clutching on upshifts is not necessary, thats what snychos are for.

on downshifts, a properly done double clutch is really easy on the transmission; much easier than a push in the clutch-mash he throttle-lift off the clutch. a propery done double clutch should not lurch you foward or anything.

i suggest that your friend learn slowly on manual transmission. when i first got my first stick, i stuck to double clutching all downshifts. once you learn the rpms for each gear and speed, then start practicing single clutch downshifts. just be easy on the clutch and tranny. both are very expensive!

He doubles on upshifts. When i downshift i dont double i just rpm match and release the clutch. I don't jump forward or anything. Then again i did learn how to drive stick by myself lol. Hes got an ls6 clutch so if he messes it up its gonna cost him an arm and a leg
