Default Lsa?

Ok, so I've hear of LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7, LS9, and LSX, but I just recently heard about a LSA. My firend says that his 3.4 in his alero is a LSA, but being a huge fan of all the LS motors, and I've heard of pretty much all of them, I find it kind of hard to belive this, and especially being in a 2001 one Alero, but I could be wrong. So has anyone else ever heard of this motor and know what it is?

There is no such thing as an LSA engine. LSA typically refers to lobe seperation angle which is a measurement on a camshaft.

Last i heard LSA mentioned was when someone was talking about a new Cadillac , a detuned ls9 or something.

EDIT found this on gm's website.

LOL your friend isn't the brightest crayon in the box. LSA - Lobe Seperation Angle. It's the number of degrees between the intake and exhaust lobe centerlines on a camshaft.

WRONG!

None of ya'll are the brightest crayon in the box obviously. The LSA is vitually a detuned LS9. Not any of the fancy titanium and all, but virtually the same. It comes in the new CTS-V. 550ish hp and somewhere around 530ft/lbs.

That one is, but the typical LSA is in the new '09 CTS-V. That ones got a few differences with the car version.

I have skiied on a slalom at 62mph and it scary as **** so I can't fathom 100mph

My uncle is a Caddy dealer and said he has a new CTS-V on the way. We are gonna run each other at the strip when it comes in. IIRC it is a low 12sec car and the manuel tops out at 191mph.

Not your grandparents Caddy for sure

Very true!

I believe its more like a LS9 without all the high dollar parts. I'm not positive, but I think the LS3 and LS9 are slightly difference in regards to the blocks.

LSA = the new caddy motor. I doubt your buddy has one in his ******* alero, LOL

The diff between the LS9 and LSA from what i've read is basically smaller blower and cast pistons.

"The LSA features a smaller 1.9 L capacity supercharger rather than the 2.3 L variant of the LS9. Other differences include a slightly lower 9.0:1 compression ratio, single unit heat exchanger and cast pistons."

I don't think it has ti rods either and I know it doesn't have the LS9 dry sump oiling.

Correct, this article is pretty detailed on the differences for those that care.
