How Long?
My car has about 87K on it, i just got is in the summer and was wondering how long it will last me. I am still paying for it and will be for the next three years haha. I have heard that the LS1 motor are basically bullitproof. I tend to have a heavy foot from time to time , but i always change the oil every three thousand miles. how long will this car last and what other things can i do to keep it running for long long time.

ya you have nothing to worry about, i bought mine with 97k on the clock it now has 112 a little over two years later and i have not had a single problem and dont forsee any anytime soon...i have about 2 years left of payments as well. i plan on doing some preventative maintenance this spring though...new diff fluid, new tranny fluid, flush the coolant system, maybe power steering and brake fluid too.
i have a friend with a 145k mile b4c(police camaro if you dont know) with full bolt ons now and it runs great burns a little oil but that is to be expected.
another friend had a b4c with 160k miles and that was a factory freak stock, he pulled it for another ls1 he rebuilt.
point is you have nothing to worry about just take care of it, and it'll keep a grin on your face for a long time to come

It'll last you until you crash it into a building doing 88 MPH trying to go back to 1955.
Wait, wrong car. It'll last til you hit it with a rocket launcher, even then there's a chance it'll still run. Throw a grenade for safe measure.

If you don't drive it and park it in a garage like some of the queers who own muscle cars it'll last as long as......who gives a f**k.
Worrying about how long your F-body will last is like worrying about life and death-when and if it comes who cares, because you'll be too busy looking good...

From what I understand, if the motor has good compression now, then the only things that'll be going any time soon will be the 4L60E and 10 bolt. The LS1 is a beastly engine.

And it's not even a 350!
I agree with SOMBITCH, it should last you a long time if you keep it stockish and take care of it. You can't expect to greatly increase the HP output and expect the reliability factor of the car to stay the same. Also, you shouldn't need to change the oil every 3K unless you are putting some very cheap dyno oil in there, a full synthetic should be able to go at least twice that long under normal conditions.
