I've taken my 95 on quite a few road trips. I call it my parts hauler because I've moved so many parts in it.

93 LT1 short block, trans, converter, headers, starter, etc... All inside my 95:

LS1 shortblock we picked up in South Carolina around 400 miles one way.

Complete 96 LT1 engine. The rest of it was in the hatch area:

I like driving my 95 on road trips. It's always important to do little things like change the oil, check the tire pressure, fluid check, etc... before the trip. If I was you I'd try and drive it a couple hundred miles before taking it on such a large trip. Some problems take a little time to pop up. That'll just keep you safe from having your fiance bitch at you, call your car a POS, and complain about how you conned her into taking this trip in your car.

I bought my Silver 98 in San Diego. Drove it 2k+ miles right on home to Chicago. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I stopped to visit my friend in Vegas, and we spent a night partying there. Then it was straight through to the Chi.

mine has made countless 2500-3500 mile road trips on four day weekends while i was stationed at fort sill(without a mileage pass.lol)

for doing it on a new engine, well, that would be about the easiest break in on a new engine you could do, but it all depends on how well everything is done. i would drive it locally a few days to check for bugs and then hit the road. but if something big did happen( it happens, you just dont know) the only bad part would be that you were so far away for any type of warranty work.....

Dayton, OH to Newton, KS. approx 800 miles. bought the car pretty much sight unseen off this site. Flew out of wichita at 6am on a saturday and drove non-stop, except for gas, drinks and domination of one poor wendys resturant. was great, and car hasnt had one single problem.

Mine's not an f-body but...... I drove about 1800 miles in 2 1/2 days in the '33 in my avatar. Kansas City to Atlanta Ga, then to Gainesville Ga, then in Hoschton Ga where I got a flat right front tire. I put on my donut spare and drove to West Memphis Ar (450 miles), fixed the tire, then went to Norman Ok. And that was just kinda spur of the moment. I've driven the Nova as far as Key West Fl. I'd love to have the comfort of a newer car, but oh well!

went on 05 and 06 power tours in my 01 SS, logged like 3500 miles on those trips. No problems whatsoever. And don't worry about your engine, as long as you do the proper break in, your good to go.

When I built my new motor for the TA, I started it up, ran it for a few minutes, drained the oil to get all the assembly lube out, changed it, drove on a 200 mile trip, re-changed it, and drove straight to Bowling green and run the crap out of it at the strip.

Dad said they used to build small blocks on friday night and race on saturday. These roller motors are a lot less prone to break in failure as in the past

I can't think of a better way to break in an engine then to take it on a road trip. It'll be a lot easier than stop and go traffic in the city.

You are driving at a constant, low rpm on the interstate. I don't see a problem.

Wow, there is a lot of military on here. I drove my SS when she was stock from Fort Polk back home to Omaha, just over 900 miles. Then I hit the road course in Glenwood, IA twice, and back to Polk the next day.

900 miles straight with true duals, dumped before the rear end. It was loud but it was a blast.

I've driven my Z in almost every state East of the Mississippi. Longest trip for poll's sake is 2000+ miles.
