sorry to knock the gto because it does perform above class tandard, but i would hate everyone seeing it pass by and think it was just a grand prix etc.....at a quick glance they dont not look like anything out of the ordinary. somebody will glance at your ta even if it had a 6cyl and be like damn!
i might have to take your side on the dd smooth ride of a gto, im sure its better than an f body. independant rear suspension though.......eeeeehh.

Also the GTO's with the SAP grilles (if you can find them) look damn good!

I've been thinking about the same thing - but only because I have two Firebirds. If I only had one, I'd never get rid of it for a new GTO. I wouldn't be without one just like I'll always have a 69 GTO. These cars are just a part of me.
Everybody always says the GTO interior is much better than the f-body. But one guy posted a perceptive comment in one of these threads. He said "you sit ON the seats in a GTO, but IN them in the Firebird." You don't get that same "strapped into the cockpit" feel in the GTO. That's one of the things I love about our 4th gen cars.
Expect parts to cost a ton more ... If they're common Monaro parts, they have to be shipped from Australia. If they're GTO specific, they only built 36,000 of those cars, and spare parts are going to be hard to come by after awhile. 4th gen F-bodies are going to spawn a huge aftermarket like the previous generations and GM A-bodies.
All that being said, I'm sure the GTO is more comfortable, less rattly, more sophisticated, quiet, and all those things - which would make for a nice DD. Maybe I'll own one someday. But that's only if I keep a 4th gen Formula/TA along with it.
Sorry for writing a book ...

As many fourth gens as i have owned Id take a GTO in a heartbeat. THe styling doesn't appeal to everyone but its a much better car than the F-body in ALOT of ways. Anyone who thinks otherwise is lying is a fool

Thats 25% more than $10,000 and I'd like to see the link.
Here:
There is nothing under $14,500 with bids on it and ending anytime soon...
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/items/Ca...Q_sopZ1QQ_scZ1
Maybe one ended at $12,500 but I DOUBT there was no reserve on it higher than $12,500 for a 2-3 year old car that was 3 times that price new.

well you are in luck i own a 2000 trans am a4 and my father owns an 05 GTO a4. I believe that they are totally different cars. yes the GTO rides better, is faster (stock), and sounds better(stock). But the f-body cars have something about them that just makes you love them. I was offered the Goat by my dad but decided to stay with my TA because a 400 HP TA would knock the wheels off a 405 hp GTO any day

On the other hand, you need to make some SERIOUS power before 275's become useless. 315's can get you off the line better, but would slow most down in the long run.
