WOW!!! I've always used Mobile 1 Fully syn extended performance without a single problem at all in three cars ive owned. It stayed clean even after 7000 miles it would still look good. But right when i bought my ws6 my brother in law became an AMSOIL dealer and he sold me on it and the first thing i did when i got my car was a flush followed by High performance AMSOIL and the power foam. So i never got 2 know the difference but i am enjoying what i c with AMSOIL

I put German Castrol in the car and cant tell that it runs any different. I still get some light piston slap the first time I start the car after not driving it for a few days. However, one thing I never payed attention to when I had my mobile one was the oil pressure gage. What are you guys seeing, and what kind of oil do you use? My oil pressure always seems good tho, very high on start up too.

With GC I get around 50-55 PSI at start up and then around 45-48 when warmed up. As long as you have 10 PSI per RPM you are good or thats the general rule.

Why do you waste money on a blend?? You do realize that it could be only 2% synthetic and still be labeled a blend right?

Pretty much. Every motor is going to be different though. If you are around 40-45 at start up you are good.

Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 in both my cars.

Mobil 1 is a good oil, just too expensive when the PP is as good (if not better).
Royal Purple....will never find it's way into my cars. From what I have heard (and seen from UOA's) it shears badly under heat. Not good for wear.
Heard good things about Scheaffers as well...if you can find it.

Upon start up, my gage read JUST under 60. Now im guessing the numbers on the actual gage go up by 20. Well It sits just under the 3/4 mark. Once the motor has reached full opertaing temp at 210 degrees f. It sits bang on at 40.

Found quite alot about the Amsoil four ball wear test on the "Bob is the oil guy" website ( http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...s.php?ubb=cfrm ). Many people and other oil makers were very critical of Amsoil for using this test and it's results to promote their products. This being said, Amsoil is a very good top tier product that even I had used years ago. I'll stick with my German Castroil.

The following was posted on the bobistheoilguy website by "buster" who has 19,464 postings over there:

"Ah the good ol 4-ball wear test.

It's used as a "pre-screen" for certain additives and is a very simple bench test. Very poor correlation to real world engine testing, so I was told. I could be wrong about that, but that is what I found. I don't fault Amsoil for using it. It does have some validity to it for screening/testing AW additives.

You never want to rely heavily on bench testing. It's a decent machine that can give you some idea of wear performance characteristics, but is extremely limited in what it can tell you.

If the 4-ball wear scar was that important, all other companies would formulate so they achieved a good 4-ball wear scar. They don't. They have been ignoring this test for years and years.

Apparently both TFOUT/4-ball wear machines collect dust at most labs and are not used anymore. Much more sophisticated and expensive testing is available now."

All loyalties set aside, i belive someone should just plain put AMSOIL, GC, PENZ PLAT, M1, ROYAL P, and RED LINE, through all and any tests for the 100% undeniable King of oils plain and simple.

I would bet on royal purple being at the bottom.
Mobil 1, redline in the middle.
Pennzoil Platinum, Amsoil, Scheaffers at the top. GC close to the group of the top oils.

I can't find GC,Amsoil or PP in my area of Georgia.
I think oil like GC is for colder climates.
Anyone in hot climates like mine run GC with good results?

Witch would you all say is thicker German casteroil, or like a asmoil 10w 40, or a penzoil platinum? I have read through a lot off post on several different sights and I’ve been using mobile one 10w 30 and I want to get a thicker oil..
