What do I need to beat this Ford?
I called out a guy with a 87-93 5.0 convertible. He's apparently got a new 317ci motor with at least a 200 shot. He ran 11.42 @ 116 on his stock block/cam with a 125 shot, but now he's got a new shortblock, bigger heads, and a 200 shot. So i'd surmise he's 10s @ 120-130 range... Anyhow, I'm calling him out from a roll on the street due to the fact he's got drag suspension and I'm on a stock rear end and gearing. So if I do a 30-50ish roll, what do I need to win? I got a 99 convertible Z28. Right now I think I'm about 120-122 trap. I got stock longblock, SLP air lid, LS6 intake, ported TB, custom tune, LT's, ORY, borla catback, NOS wet kit (150 pills). I'm getting the g5x3 cam kit installed before I race him in the spring. That should get me near 125 I'd imagine. Do you think I can get him with that or should I hold off till I get a nice set of AFR cylinder heads? Or just do a 200 shot? Pros and cons of each pathway to success. Thanks.

From a roll all of that 60' goes out the window. I don't think he'll have the top end I've got....but we shall see! The videos will be badass tho I guarantee that.

Do you know what kinda motor he has? how much power hes puttin to the wheels? Roll racing and strip are like comparing apples and oranges 2 different things and cant really compare the two. If he has a sick suspension setup you might beat him now, but I would think with the cam you should take him from a roll

From a dig he will beat me. He's gonna be 10s if he can drive. I dunno how much power he's going to be making or what kind of motor he's got now...I doubt he'd tell me if I asked. But ya I was thinking of upping my shot..but the way I see it if I just do heads/cam and stick with the 150 and I should be hitting 130 or damn near it... That should be plenty with my 3.42's to beat him on a highway run. It is true though my nitrous 302 was quick to 120mph... But if I can get the kick I don't think he'll catch me.
