CTSV or G8 GT?

I would go personal preference. The V is a very nice car, and I love mine, but the G8 is also very nice. I am considering a GXP to rotate in as my daily driver in a year or so.
One of the main things to consider is if you want an auto or a stick. That really makes the decision for you. Gen I V's only come with an M6 T56. G8 GT's are all auto's.
Regarding the reliability of the CTS-V, a big part of that is how you drive the car. Mine has had plenty of issues, HOWEVER most of those are my own doing based on my mods, and my tracking the car. I'm on my 4th differential, HOWEVER the first 3 were replaced under warranty by my dealer, because they were starting to make a little bit of noise (Lindsay Cadillac in Alexadria VA, is the BEST dealer to work with.) The last one I've had in the car for 40k miles, with no issues (albeit it is a bit on the loud side).
The CTS-V is NOT A DRAG CAR. If you buy it for that you will be disapointed, and will be replaceing rear end bits sooner rather than later. With that said on the highway, it has high 12 second speed nearly stock. It pulls like a mother in 3rd and 4th (65 -135), and you will surprise the hell out of a LOT fo cars. With just a few boltons (not even headers), I was beat by just under a car length by an SL55 from 70 -130.
With minor bolton's (again no headers), I trapped 109 at my first time ever to the drags (in december on nearly bald tires no less). I now (conservatively) have 415 rwhp, and would expect that I would trap in the higher teens now. My car would qualify for the 11.50 requirement. Again though, this is not a drag car, so you will not see a real 11.50 unless you completely reqord the rear end ($8k+).
If you do decide of a CTS-V, then make sure you take it out to a road course, and drive the snot out of it. There is nothing more rewarding that hanging with Z06's and 911's on their home turf, in a nearly 4000 lb luxo sport sedan.

I obviously love my car, however I think whichever you decide, its a win!

I think the caddy would be a sleeper, which is nice.. But people will also think you're ridin' dirty... Lol ![Chug! Chug! Chug!](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_chug.gif)
But it really depends on what kinda of driving you are doing... If you are looking for a fun "race" sedan, than the 6 speed would be a funner choice over the auto.

I think im going to look for a nice G8. I like the looks alot better then the CTSV. That and I get the warranty like stated above. The CTSV's warranty would be up and im sure when stuff starts breaking I wouldnt be able to afford it.

I personally would go with a 2006 GTO. Your going to have a hard time finding a "Cheap" CTS-V unless you go with the earlier LS6 types. The GTO is a GREAT car whose interior is 10 times better than your current ride, has the LS2, and will allow for mods.......when you can get one for less than 17K and low miles. You still would have a year left on most warranties for those GTO's so you could really find out what you "need" to replace and beef up.
I love my Goat and its not an LS2

Replacement caddy parts would break you, unless....you somehow find a dealer that has one and offers the Cadillac certified program. Look into that, because it's alot like the GM certified, except that they actually do a good job taking care of you...well until it runs out, then you're SOL.
