CA native moved from San Diego to KS and have driven either 60's A-bodies or 4th gen F-bodies every winter. I've rolled on everything from hi-performance summer tires to Blizzak snow tires.

IMO, you can get by on good all-season tires (my BFG KDWS were quite good in snow, current BFG G-force T/A SS also pretty good). But it's flat here and I don't have to deal with hills.

A pair of Blizzaks on the rear (225/60/16) makes a huge difference. Get a pair mounted on spare set of wheels and use them when you need to. Or if you really want to go all out, get four.

Mine is fantastic in the snow with 3.23s, LSD, and Yokohama IceGuards. It's a V6 currently so it has a little less "pull" than yours might, but I get by just fine. I've only needed to drive my back-up (old busted '87 Wrangler) twice this winter.

Currently driving mine through the winter in MI. We get decent amounts of snow. I just have one word, BLIZZAKS!!! I also threw 200lbs in the back of the car. Looks retarted and dropped my gas mileage to 18, but my car gets around better than my moms 4k+ lb charger with all seasons on it.

Okey I live in Iceland, lots of snow, I've tried to drive in snow it's horrible...
I keep it garaged 5-6 months of the year.

Just one thing to do...keep you're f-bdoy garaged in cold weather(snow, frost)

I run all seasons and do just fine. Just have to have the right all seasons, there are some out there that really should be more of a 3 season tire as they totally suck in snow. I have some dunlop tires (forget which exactly) and they work pretty well in almost anything and I've driven through some snowstorms before without much trouble.

I came to a similar dilemma. My car gets fun if it rains, so in the snow i can only imagine... Originally i thoughti would throw snow tires on it and tough it out, but its just not worth it. The abuse your car will see as a result of winter driving IMO justifies buying a cheap beater. You can get a crappy little FWD car of 4wd truck for $1000-$1500. I spent $1700 on a 91 toyota pickup and I could not be happier. Now I have a vehicle that can perform exceptionally in snow, and best of all driving it is a completely different experience. I HAMMER my formula, but i "respect" it. The yoter I do whatever I want and I dont care, its way more enjoyable to drive in shitty conditions because it doesnt matter if im abusing it.... I cringe every time I drive over a sandy road in my formula...
