Snowtires are a must, 180 stat is great, still warm enough to roast you in the car and force you to go t-shirt inside when fully warm.

hills can sometimes be a challenge, but only if they arent plowed.

i use to drive mine in the snow. just make sure you dont have summer performance tires (big blocks of rubber) on your car, you dont need snow tires, but you do need some all weather tires (will have slits in the tread everywhere).

just need all weather tires and weight in the back and you are fine. just dont expect to go out in a blizzard, but normal driving is fine.

I have to disagree. I bought my car with a 160* thermostat and have had no problems at all. The cars goes right to operating temperature and drives fine.

You are going to miss the Cali weather
These cars drive fine in the cold, but they do suck in Missouri snow. I have had no problems in light snow (like less than an inch) but any more and you have to be extra extra careful, especially because other drivers on the road are idiots and think they can go 50mph in a foot of snow

I've driven my car through 5 winters and it's just fine every single year. But tires are a must. I'm not sure how well 'all-season' tires will hold up as I've has full out snow tires every year. I'm also running a skinnier tire than stock (225/60/16 on snowflakes) to dig through the snow and I've NEVER been stuck.

I assume that the V6 and the LSx come with the same thermo, but I'm probably wrong. Mine's stock (whatever it is) and it keeps plenty warm and drives perfect. If it gets below around 20*F you may want to warm it up though. I run it for 10min if it get colder than that to get the juices flowing and warm up the temp inside the car, but mostly to get the trans warmed up. My car shifts like **** if until it's warmed up when it gets super cold.

Conclusion: Get snow tires & warm it up when cold and you'll be just fine.

Like everyone said, just use common sense. Take it really slow if you absolutely have to go out before the roads are treated and plowed. If you have ASR it will definitely let you know when you are spinning when the gas pedal comes up on you, but Im not sure how beneficial it is to winter driving?
Bottom line, have a healthy fear of the snow and ice and use common sense, plan ahead and you'll be good to go. Just be prepared to be washing salt off until June

I drove the 200 miles from Fayetteville to Little Rock for Christmas break in straight up snow and ice. It sucked, took 5 hours, and beat the hell out of my shocks (Ice bumps) but I made it fine. If your not stupid, you can drive in inclement weather.

sand bags in the back and some good all weather tires/snow tires. i was born and raised in MO and if your one of those california drivers that loses your mind in a light drizzle, you especially need to be careful in the icy MO winters. welcome to sleet, black ice, and the true test of those so called SUVs (you MO people know what i mean)

For years I drove f-bodies in the Winter....now my WS6 sits in a heated garage and I drive a truck in the winter months. They suck in the snow, but it can be done.

they are alright in in light snow as long as it is not much. I only drive mine if i have to in the snow since I can only imagine what the salt does to the underside of my car.

x2 with this guy. I'm running the same set up, but with a good all season tire on my winter snowflakes. Let the car warm up, and be prepared to take your time.

That is why you guys (those in Wisc and other heavy snow states/areas) have better driving knowledge and skill when driving in the snow. Area's that don't normally get consistant snowfall, the drivers skills suck. I lived in DC. We would get an ave of 20 inches a year. Everytime 1 in of snow hit people would drive like morons. In Wisc you guys know what to do when it snows. In DC it was panic and chaos. Its more about the people around you that suck when in snows because they don't drive properly.

hell for fun in the winter we drive over the lakes. we get hauling *** and start doing stupid ****

something thats kinda neat around here...in the winter when the lakes freeze over, there is little ice highways that cross the lakes in certain spots. Not everyone uses them but those who know about them can get around town way faster than taking the streets the whole way
