5.0 Fox coupe or 98 t/a ?? dilema ....

Default 5.0 Fox coupe or 98 t/a ?? dilema ....

ok heres the deal . i have a fairly clean 87 5.0 mustang coupe . its clean title and look good . i have a guy willing to trade me a 98 t/a with a A4 tranny for just my coupe shell .

they issue is the t/a has a blown motor ..
but i happend to have a spare 00-02 corvette ls1 block chillen in the garage ..

my coupe already has forged 306 h/c/i and a tremec tranny as well as all available bolt ons and a lil bt of the juice .

hes letting me keep all my drive train and only wants the shell ..

the t/a is a lil beat up . its still clean title and tags a recent it needs paint and some interior work but i also paint cars .so no big deal ...

i like my mustang alot but have wanted a ls1 fbody for a while now . i have 2 ls1 rx7s soo i now the ls1s are awsome motors ..

i can always pick up another mustang and drop my drivetrain in it but ive wanted a camaro not a t/a ..

if i was gona fix it and sell it , it would be a no brainer .. but since its a car im going to add to my collection i dnt really knw what to do ..

clean coupes are getting harder to find and parts are sooo cheap for fords ..

what would u guys do . im not gona sell the ta if i keep it .. its good trade but my mustangs already done and lots of fun ..

i dnt knw what to do ...

dude get the t/a!! u can find mustangs any where. that is a sick trade. u can even rebuild the motor and sell it for atleast 2k

**** it, do an fc rx-7 with the mustangs driveline, trade for the ta and never looks back.

I would have to see some pics of the cars in question to actually make my decision. Coupes are getting harder and harder to find. I love the look. I would actually say sell the motor and tranny of the coupe and dropp the ls1 with a nice H/C/I with some juice and don't look back.

If your car is clen then keep it. All you are going to be doing is buying someone elses problems. How is the rear end and the tranny in the T/A if they are shot they you will need to fork over money where you can drive your car right now.

I'm a fox coupe fanatic. If I wasn't driving my Camaro, there'd be a black one out in the drive way.


If your coupe is a much nicer roller than the Firebird, I'd pass. Granted you have a spare engine, but it's the LS1 that makes the late fourth-gens worth a damn. Let's see some pictures of this coupe.

You know what? I re thunk and must debunk my previous analysis of the scenario. I noticed you said a "fairly clean" 5.0. How straight are we talking and what's been done other than the drivetrain? Built rear? Paint? Cage? Brakes? Wheels?

If it's little to nothing fancy, I'd swap them out. You've got what it takes to get the 'Bird flying again, so why not.


Regardless, how about some shots of the Fox?

keep the 5.0 maybe u can find a better trade somewhere else for a running t/a with high miles

Keep the coupe, they are much harder to find. You can pick up a 98 T/A A4 anytime.

ha i am gona keep my coupe .. but i got him to sell it to me . i pick it up tomorrow . $1200 can u believe that ???? clean tittle and tags are all up to date .

if i did trade shells i was gona pick up another fc and drop in the 5.0 motor in it . u can find fc rx7 super cheap ..

so now ill take on a nother project and lets see how it goes i figure i can alwasy sell it for a nice profit ..

the coupe needs some paint but the body is straight has a k meber and suspension and welds really fun to drive.. and i havent touched it in a few months so its super dirty .

the t/a is bone stock ... but maybe not for long .. lol so if people got parts for sale let me knw !

dude, i miss my fox. i had a bad *** 92 coupe and i sold it and bought a bike. I miss it so much. But its all in how much u like your car.

ha ha thats funny .. a few months ago i was getting ready to buy a blower for the mustang and out of the blu my boy offers to sell me his immaculate 04 cbr600rr for 2k !! it was a hell of a deal so i ended up the bike ..

these are all fun and nice projects but they all come and go that LS1 fd rx7 i have is not going anywere ive had it since high school ..

but i get to keep both cars wich is great ..

bike had never been droped or abused .. ii guess when people hurt for money is when u get the best deals .. this guy with the t/a didnt care for the car and all he wanted was a clean tittle fox coupe .
