Default GM will warranty my steering rack?!!

Didn't really know where to post this

But any ways, Heres my story I have 2000 SS , with just over 14k on it. i was changing the oil and winterizing my car last fall and i noticed that the steering gear (rack) was leaking. Being a little botherd by that, and knowing my warranty was well done and over with I decided to email GM and tell them bout it. Long story short .some Rep. called me and started asking me questions about my concern. He wants me to take my car to the dealer of my choice to have the problem diagnosed for free , and once the dealer has the correct diag. They will work with me to correct the problem.

HE didnt exactly say that this would be a freebie, but more than likey they will work with me to help cover the cost. So I have an appt. scheduled in the spring (my car is stored at the moment). We'll see where it from there

no he's just trying to get you in the door so they hang you upside down by your ankles and shake out every penny.

It's likely they'll rip you a new one, but good luck. Hard to find a car with such low mileage and in good condition.

x2. If you're an ASE certified tech, you can replace the steering rack on your own... Somehow.

You know why its leaking right? Because you dont drive the car. Seals and gaskets dry out when they are not used. My car has 140,000 on the original rack, and no leaks. Get it fixed and drive the car.
