out of those two cars Id grab the LT1. It is better looking and rarer, plus youll be able to sell it for more down the road if you decide to do so since its a WS6.

Yeah i think i may just wait it out and save up. I had a LT1 before and i loved it and she ran great but the LS1 seems to be much stronger (last LT1 i blew the bottom end out). Don't get me wrong the LT's are good motors but i think the Ls is definitly my best bet. If anyone knows of any good deals let me know. My truck should be sold this weekend and i should have some cash. If my dirtbike sells i should have about $6,500. But if just my truck sells i'll have about $5,500

I was browsing autotrader the other day and found a good number of LS1s for $6,500 and under. My best advice is to never get too hasty and travel if necessary. You can score some really good deals if you keep your eyes peeled.

Autotrader's website and the classifieds here are awesome spots to find a deal. There's even been a few success stories with craigslist.

For what it's worth, mine was $6,250 with 70k on the clock. They weren't going for as cheap back then, but I scored a good deal.

El Ess Won.

They both run the same chance of broken parts, so get the cheaper AND faster one.

youd be a fool to not take the ls1, dam that lt1
go over there and make offer with cash in hand, if the owner doesnt care for it u can get him to drop off another 500-600$
i would never pay 4k for any lt1 car, maybe a 96 impala ss with moderate miles. but not for fbody

wait and save, i would try to get about 7k and keep looking. for 7k youll end up with a nice ls1. mine was only 7800 almost 3 years ago with 95k miles and that seemed like a steal back then.

I've owned both, never again will I own a LT1 for one reason. Optispark, no way will I deal with that crap again I don't care what kind of miles are on it. LS1 is much better and faster out of the box. 245K man I thought I had some miles. That is a crap shoot, I would only buy it if it were real cheap. Personally my advice is keep looking for a better deal on the LS1.

Your getting good advice from all of these guys. LT1 is nice, LS1 trumps it.

Print off the attached and read it while your on the can.

Buy an LS1, but not the one your looking at. That thing's been to the moon.

nothing against u but this is a dumbass question!! Don't buy an lt1 and don't buy that trans am! Dude take a step back and just do a search and buy an ls1 car that has 100,000 miles on it for $6500. U will be much happier with te ls1 car. The lt1 is slower then the ls1 car so u have to mod the lt1 just to keep up with a stock ls1. Sorry lt1 lovers i don't mean to be an ***!

Get the trans am, offer him 2500 and see where it goes from there. I would scoop a deal like that in a second and just build it.
