Default LS1 or LT1? Which should i get?

I found 2 cars im interesed in. One is a 1999 trans am LS1 6 speed 100% stock it ok shape with 245,000 miles (i know that is extremly high). So i found another one it's a 1997 WS6 (true WS6) trans am 6 speed with exhaust and some other odds an ends with 110,000 miles and it is 100% mint (besides the usual wear in the drivers seat). The 99 is $3500 and i can get the 97 WS6 for $4500. Which do you think would be the better deal? Im good at working on cars but i don't want to buy something that i will kill myself spending money left and right fixing up. Let me know what you think

I say keep looking for a better deal on an LS1 with less miles. I know it always seems that you'll never find a better deal, but you will. Its worth the wait for an LS1

What are your intentions, how much money do you have to work with?

How good of shape is the 1999? I'd be all over that one for a builder..

Yikes, 1/4 of a million miles... these are a good chassis, but you'll be hunting down high mileage gremlins with that many miles.

Naaa...

New 9" Rear, new aftermarket LCA's and Panhard Bar, Torque Arm, new U-Joints, definately new Hubs in the front, all new Ball Joints, re-build Engine and Transmission. Basically an old shell and new parts.

That's why I said how much money you plan on dumping into it?

As much as I love the LS1+T56 combo, I would definetely go with the LT1. If those are your only options, that is.

Ok. I think i may just play the waiting game and hold off till a better one comes up. Cause i don't mind the LT1 but i would so much rather have a LSx. I only have about $5,000 to spend (which i know isn't much) But i have seen a few for good prices and like you's have said it maybe worth the wait.

If you want LS1, then wait for it. And while you wait, you should be able to save some more money, too. ~6K will get you a decent LS1.

What do you want to do with the car???? If you want to build an all out monster, get the ls1 put all new suspension on it, rebuild engine and tranny, (for safe keeping get a used ecu and harness) If you just want a nice driver with some nice exhaust i'd get the lt-1! a true ws6 will hold decent value, it has exhaust, throw an intake on it, port the stock tb, or buy a good used cheap 52mm one (preffered) put a set of good headers on it, and make some minor visual mods!!! If you are looking for a lightly modded car (heads cam) and want a failrly fast car without going crazy in mods, wait for a better ls1 deal!

I would definately wait a little bit longer until you get 6-7k at least. You will get a car in much better shape, and be alot happier in the end.

yes man wait! get the ls1 but not thie one you are talking about! $3500 for a car with 245,000 miles and it being STOCK is not close to being worth that price. Just save up a little bit more and be patient and you will be happy in the end!
