water in oil cap

Default water in oil cap

98ls1 has water in oil cap only none in oil pan thought it might b an blown headgasket but not. clean oilcap and takes a few days to show back up any sugg on what to look for

it's condensation from short drives that the engine doesn't get to operating temp. nothing serious.

thanks the temp never get over 160 no matter what i do i let it run for 45 min never gite over 165 thanks again tom

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. Head down to your local auto parts store and pick up a 180 degree t-stat, that should fix your issue of it not getting up to temp.

The condensation in the oil cap is normal in winter, its just crankcase moisture that hasn't had a chance to burn off or escape. Your operating temp issue is just contributing to the buildup of moisture, fix that, take it for a long drive, and you should be good to go

Alot of GM vehicles exibit this condition. Nothing to worry about. Just do what was mentioned above. The best thing is to drive the car long enough to get it fully warmed up and burn all of the condensation out. If you can't do that then you will just have to live with it.

Yup, we've had a cold winter here and mine actually turned to a buttery-type substance in the cap. It's normal.
