Ss factory exhaust?
Hey guys.
On friday night I picked up a 1999 camaro ss.
My question to you is, does this have true dual exhaust? I am going to be purchasing pacesetter headers very soon and want to know what else I need. I see that most people run an off-road Y pipe, but why would I need this if I have true duals? Also, I need to pass emissions.

no, our cars do not come with true-dual exhaust. if yours does have true-duals, then the previous owner had that done. best way to know is jack the car up and look. if u ran an ORY pipe, it would free up power but u may not pass emissions without cats

ok thanks alot guys.
I just wet out and looked, and the car does have true duals.
This isnt an SLP option?
So im thinking Ill just buy the pacesetter headers with emissions and use the exhaust that ic currently on the car.

Well, the deal is I'm in the navy. I don't necessarily have to pass emissions. I can just continue to buy 60 day passes.
So I'm now thinking I'll just buy the pacesetter headers w/o emissions, hooker off-road y pipe, and then turndowns possibly?

seeing your setup above, y not just run a true dual setup and end right before the axle???
you could run the pacesetters, cats, x-pipe or h-pipe (whichever u prefer), muffler or bullet of your choice and turndown tips

i was basically saying it isnt a good idea to run open headers because if screws up the o2 readings and makes the car run like ****

That is what I am going to do, minus the cats. I will run the pacesetters, x-pipe, mufflers, and turndowns.
Which leads me to my next question, who makes an x-pipe?
