The track has the same type of barriers on the sides, And I've done the same thing at the track with a different car, lower speed, but just missing the wall.

I guess track prep and public road surfaces can't always be assumed to be able to keep your car stuck to it in a straight line..

You are very lucky man. Spinning out at 120 and being able to even walk out is one thing, but to have that minimal damage to your car is another.

Good luck with the repairs, and try to keep the car straight next time.

We all have to accept the risk that comes with exploring the capabilities these cars really have. Otherwise, we'd all be in olde Sunfires or stock Colbalts.

I appreciate that you checked the road clear for innocent drivers.

After that, it's all between you, the car, and what burden you're willing to leave your next of kin!

For true car enthusiasts there is no "just don't do it anymore". We all own these cars for a reason, because we love the power and speed they provide, its that simple. Yes the track is the best place to open it up but not everyone has the same opportunities to go to the track. Some people have to drive 2 hours + to go to a track and for some the track may only be open for 5 months a year. The important thing is that since he decided he was going to open up his car on the public highway is that he chose to do it with no other cars on the road. Its one thing to drive fast and wreck and total your car and maybe kill yourself but its something else to do it during the day with other people on the road and possibly kill that family of 5 in their mini van.

My hats off to you for choosing the right scenario to drive "aggressively" where if something happens its only happening to you and not that innocent family of 5.

Of course not and there are better places than others to do so. Just remember what can happen.

A friend of mine wrecked at 120 also, he was not so lucky. I now always take my vehicles to a shop to tune or the track

You mean that wing didn't keep the rear end planted on the ground?

its not a wing like the ones you see on import cars/road race cars get over it (Part of the wings west kit). Slid off the road and hit a culvert did 3 flips in the air
