It's pulse width modulation.
The early lock up clutches were applied either 0% or 100%
PWM allows for a smoother apply and different friction materials in the torque converter clutch (TCC)
PWM basically can apply the TCC at different amounts allowing the tcc to slip for smoother apply.

The PWM solenoid still thinks it's pulsing though, the transgo kit does it mechanically.

What about the B&M Trans pak shift kit. I put one of those in and changed the springs in the valve body with that one does that do anything with it. Mod's could you please move this to the AUTOTRANS section.
