yea I hate my stock spoiler. All will change in good time tho. Once it retires from DD duty it will get the extra care and attention it deserves

just my opinion though...a z28 with a sunoco hood would tie the SS though
+1 that's how it falls for me pretty much.

from a maint standpoint F-body. From insurance, Fbody. They wanted more than triple out here for a vette. So Sad.

I once heard "f-bodies are like loud, belligerent and rude Corvettes". That being said, I vote f-body! As posted earlier ram air t/a > corvette

My insurance guy actually quoted me 89 dollars less for a 99 corvette than a 99 camaro ss. i got the camaro cuz it was cheaper, but he told me it was because there are less accidents in corvettes than camaros.

2K1WS6400, what do you want out of this car?

That's an opinion, we can't answer that for you. Do you like vette bodies or fbody bodies better?
I personally like C5 FRC vettes the most. An EB C5Z06 would be my (realistic) dream car at the moment.

but they both have the same motor..
Motors can be swapped easily. Especially if you want a fast drag/street racing car, you'll most likely want to go with an engine with a bigger bore (Gen IV LSx'es).

Which one would be better for drag/street racing??
Fbody, solid rear axle and cheap to build/maintain. Race cars will break a lot of ****. You seem to be after value.

lol, it's all about what you want dude. What do you want?
Value? Fbody
Comfort? Vette
Drag/street racer? Fbody (imo)
Road racer? Vette

Yes, vettes can be made fast and reliable, but you seem to be after value and straight line speed, so I say you get an fbody. The vette will cost a lot more to go fast, but if you don't mind spending the money, it's worth it. Vettes are sweet. But from what you've given us, I think an Fbody would be a great choice for you.

This is EASY. Answer the follwing question.

Do you need to have a backseat?

YES (Buy the F-Body)
NO (Buy the Vette)

End of story.

What exactly it the FRC c5? If it's the regualar c5 that is the nicest looking vette imo. I like the c5z06 but I don't like the look of the z06 cars in those years. I voted fbody though since that's where my heart really is.

FRC is the Z06 style top on it and not removeable. As for the price of making a Vette fast. Only things that are VETTE specific are expensive. Also Labor for a clutch install. Otherwise they are fairly similar in mod cost. Just gotta look around for the people who put an end to the Vette tax. I went with TSP headers and ORX and it was like $800 for them. Also intakes are more expensive.

Depends on what you want the car for. If it's STRICLY a drag car(read only sees the strip, like every week or every other week) get the F-Body(preferably a T/A because they look much better). If it's a street car/possible DD that will see some track action I'd go with the Corvette. It just looks way better than both, handles good, I think it's more comfortable too.

Also, F-body=cheaper insurance and 4 seats is better than 2 so you can have more vag join you!

Insurance on my Vette was $6 less a month then my '96 Z28. Older owner demographic and less accidents/thefts

Vette should be cheaper on insurance because young kids don't get them mostly! So they don't get wrecked with a grandpa driving.

Personally I would do the f-body without a doubt. I personally like their looks more and their a lot more affordable. If you have 15k to spend you could get a mint condition f-body for 10g easily, then buy a 9" and get at least a cam with the other 3k.

I went from a Black WS6 to a C5 and would make the swap over and over again. Way nicer car with a lot more creature comforts the C5 is. I'll take the looks of my slammed C5 over my black ws6 anyday too.

i'd say get the vet. they're a little lighter and better handling. that being said, independent rear suspension is definately not the best option for a strip car. if thats what you want then i'd have to say get the f-body.
