How will Shell's new "nitrogen-enhanced" gas effect my mileage/performance?

My experience today.
I have an 04 f-150 with 100k miles that sputters and runs like crap, cuz I only changed 6 outta 8 plugs and coils. Its been like this for over a month. Well I stopped at shell and filled up with 87. I pull out to a red light and notice no stumble and misfire, nor vibrations in the steering wheel. I accelerated and noticed it instantly running better.
Came to a hill and went right up with no shaking or stalling. I thought this gas was a gimmick but, if you could see how bad my truck was running, you'd be pretty impressed.
Just thought I share.

There are 2 separate things going on. 1 is that they have changed the detergent additive package and 2 is the 'Nitrogen Enhanced" claim.
My state is one of several that have gone to mandated 10% ethanol in the gas.
Here's what I think: adding ethanol to gas automatically increases the level of nitrogen and Shell has changed the detergent package to deal with the ethanol. The marketing department at Shell found out about it and flew with the new 'concept'.
That's just what I think.

Sounds good, or sounds like marketing, who knows.

My understanding is that nitrogen was added to fuel as far back as the 60's and we haven't had any problems since then, why would we have it now. I will try to find the source I found this in.

I usually get my gas at the AAFES stations on post. I just tried to find out who supplies their gas but no luck. Anybody know who does?
I would run Shell but its so damn expensive in our area. Ill easily fill my car and itll be almost $4 more a fill up. I did it for a few fill ups and noticed no MPG gain or anything at all when I first got home from this deployment.

Congratulations and thanks for serving. My dad was in the 101st in the 60's. Was in the 506th E company just before they headed over to Vietnam. He is now a retired 1st Sgt. My brother however was in the 1-184th Cal Guard, and detached to the 1-487 out of Hawaii under the command of the 3rd ID. He was KIA. Was a captain, fire support officer.

Well...seeing as AAFES is all about making as much money as possible...I'd guess the lowest bidder so don't count on getting the same brand every time.
Haven't found a definitive answer myself either.
