Do whatever you want, but keep in mind that once you cut it, you can't go back. I'm a tall guy and my elbow hits the glove box when I'm trying to shift. I have to remove the center console for track days. It might not be a problem with a longer shifter.

I cut the one in my Vette. The 98-99 Stock ones (Non Hurst) are super crap. Just buy a new one or a short stick for like $20

I used a cnc lathe, im a machinist so i build can build whatever i want. You can use any regular die to thread stainless, it doesn't have to be anything special.

i cut the stock hurst, pro 5.0, and a umi short stick and havent had any problems with them. on each shifter i cut about 1 inch off and then i took a file and took the burrs off the first thread and bammm it worked like a charm!! i dont understand spending 20 bucks plus shipping when it can be done for free!

I like the way everyone is telling you to buy a short stick for like $20. Guys!! Like me, he has a B&M ripper. He can't switch out the stick. He can either cut it or get another shifter. I want to cut my B&M down as well. I actually like the shift of my B&M and want to keep it. I started a thread just a couple of days ago about it. Cut it dude, i'm going to.

I always though B&M had interchangeable bolts for changing the stick? Or am I thinking of the hurst normal ones.

I know someone with a B&M and they mentioned that they couldnt change sticks, which was one reason they didnt like it. Pro 5.0 ftmfw

Ah I must be thinking of the stock shifters and the optional hurst shifters. I know they just take the shift stick out by 2bolts. Oops lol

Here's why I thinking of cutting the shifter down. I just installed a new pistol grip handle and it may turn out to be a little long. I'll know after I drive it for a while.

He cant change the shifter though, I mentioned the $20 ws6 store stick also and they all said you cant change them on that shifter. If he ***** up then he can't go back thats why hes leery on doing this.
