Default LS1 fbody insurance vs CTS-V insurance

I have seriously been considering selling the car in my sig and picking up a V. I would sell the parts that I havent installed yet and use that to mod the V: think tint, cai, magnaflows, wet kit and lowering it. But my main concern would be that my insuance would go up, I pay way too much right now so dont even ask, it makes me sick thinking about it

Unless your insurance agent is on here, you're wasting your time lol. Just call and get a quote.

Thats the reason, if I keep it I know Ill get stupid with it. IF I keep it I know Ill end up doing some serious weight reduction and make it to where I'll hate the car. Seeing how its my daily driver I want something quick and comfortable. I have some MT dr's going on it next week and they wont be too fun in the rain but the car needs them just becuase I have zero traction in 1st or 2nd gear with the stall and just a 100 shot. It has 12k miles on the rebuilt motor($3600) and 400 miles on the wholes trans set up ($3000) and 127k on the body. The only way I'd sell is if I could get $12k for the car and I'd throw in the h/c, lifters, chain, pushrods, gaskets, bolts and fuel pump for $1800.

when i was out looking for another car, i wasn't looking for a 99 SS... i was actually looking for a 2006 GTO or clean C5 vette.
thing is, not only did i have a solo car accident (wrecked my camaro in the rain getting onto the freeway), i also had a speeding ticket within a year of each other so my insurance rates were ridiculous.
i probably should have gotten an old beater for a few $k and waited for stuff to drop off my record, but i couldn't do the time away from a decent ride and ended up getting my 99 SS which was super clean and low mileage.

it really depends on where you live, but insurance on a 10 year old car is dirt cheap compared to a newer luxury/sports car.

The liability portion should only go up a little, but your comp & coll will go up some because of the V being newer and worth more.

I doubt it will go up much, but it depends on the coverage you pick. If you only have liability now and will only get liability on the V, it might even go down.

The plus side is that the CTS-V is a 4 door sedan and your camaro is a 2-door sports car. The camaro is likely rated higher for liability.

The down side is the potential cost of repairs on the caddy, but that's only if you're getting collision. I don't think the insurance rates it for the LS6 as opposed to the standard CTS's V6.

I would never run liability on a car worth over ~7000$. I for one cannot afford to replace my 10k$ Formula if I hit a deer at 70mph on the highway.

I had just liability on my 88 legend. Even on THAT it was bullshit. I couldnt imagine doing that to a CTSv. I actually ended up sellin the car because it got hit in 2 different parking lots when I wasnt there and you dont get comprehensive claims with a liability only coverage. I didnt want to pay for everything to get fixed myself.
I will ONLY run full coverage on anything. Not for me...but becaue of ALL the other stupidass drivers going around
