It wont be bad with a 6spd. You just shift earlier

with 4.10 you could redline 5th at 151mph, 6th at 223mph and you would need to shift into 6th to get to 165mph at 4400rpm.
but it wont pull to 165 in 6th?

yeah, im yet to see a speed limit over 70 and I have traveled all over the eastern US. I really dont see a need to go 160+ unless you are on a track.

You must be wanting to do a standing mile, or the Nurburgring or something. What track or you gonna do 165+ on?

With my 228 cam and full bolt ons I still made 30+ on the highway. I drove over 2 hours, raced a full day and then drove back home on the same tank and yes its a 4th gen tank in my car

Get the 4.10's and forget about top end stuff. You will chew up 6th gear anyhow if you fly around under full load trying to see how fast yer car will go. Its an overdrive gear and its quite small, thus it doesn't like heat and load very much. Enjoy the gears but be prepared to have some whine. My diff was set up by TSP( I bought it used from a guy who bought a TL for the motor) and I get a whine from 50-65mph in both 5th or 6th gear but its worth it. The gears really woke up my cam and were some of the best money I blew on my car all last year.

my mixed and city gas mileage actually went up because 6th gear is actually usefull. I think my hwy dropped by about 1-2 tho.

I hated my 4.10's in my 12-bolt. With heads/cam 4.10's I ran out of gear at the track. You need a high rev limiter and taller than stock tires to make it through the 1/4mi. With more power, the 4.10's become more horrible.

well i ran my car with 4.10 and 3.42 with the same mods on street tires and the car ran the exact same times in 1/4 mph and 60 ft where different. 3.42-12.5 at 112 with 1.9 60ft, 4.10 when they didnt spin 12.5 at 109 with 1.6 60 ft. the results never made since to me but since im still running the rsa's and cause run my car as i run it on the street i went back to the 3.42 cause they more constitent. as for topspeed once i managed to get 171 out of the car with just full exhaust and hptuners and 3.42 which is what the logging software was reading from the speed senor but i dont how acurate it was, with 4.10 never went over 150 so that my results anyway

You hated them? Thats a first. I run 4.30's and love them. Yeah when I first got them I would run out of gear at the track, but my et's got a lot better even though my traps went down. They get worse with more power? You had h/c, 4.10's and still on stock size tires?

i have 4.10s and i hit 150 at the way top of 5th gear, probably about 6200 rpms. i just have lid and exhaust for mods aside from the gears. i run about 2100 rpms at 70 mph but i never do 70. you get better city mileage because you can use 6th gear, but your highway mileage is worse because you're just revving higher in the same gear you use to cruise around town. i would say go for the 4.10s though.

yeah 4.10 theres a increase in accleration u just spend more time shifting and im sure if i hade slicks and skines up front with those 4.10s the time would have been better but like it said goodyear rsa on stock rims is a challenge to keep from spining. the only thing i didnt like is running out of gear so quick.
