Has anybody ever tried dumping the clutch in 2nd? I figured it would be one hell of a smoke show. No, not to launch at the track either, just a nice burnout down my street.

I used to do the waterbox burnouts in the mustang (01gt) at the track in 2nd gear. Way easier to hold it in place without retarded RPM, you just have to stall it up a bit higher to start the burnout. Whether or not this helped or hurt the transmission, I have NO clue. It was a 5 spd, btw.

dumping the clutch in 2nd on the street could make for a good smoke show in the right conditions its just whether or not you want to put the added stress on the motor mounts, tranny mounts, transmission, and the clutch itself... thats for you to decide
the water box at the track is a different story because there is less traction (obviously)
maybe throw down some water on the street to get things rolling its up to you just dont complain if you break something

not that great because its really hard to do and you gotta get your rpms way up then dump the clutch, not let it out fast you have to dump it and you can here your car saying **** you every time you do it. Just impress friends with a first gear burn out.
