LS6 intake manifold on my LS1, what will it do??
I've got a 99 z28 and a new in the box LS6 intake manifold. What kind of performance can I get out of the manifold if I install it, is it worth installing without headers... or should I just sell it??

I have one on my 98, I did notice a difference once I put it on. No numbers to show but anyone on here will tell you its one of the best upgrades (for the money) you can do as far as replacing the stock LS1 intake manifold.

If the car has all other bolt-ons I'd say it's worth throwing it on. Also if you plan to put a cam in the car, I'd say throw it on as well. However, if you're not really interested in making it any faster, sell it.

well def do not get a fast they are a waste of money and cause problems and the street warrior is questionable idk if it exists yet, id say before you install that ls6 send it to tpis and have them put an oval snout on it and get an oval TB and viola you just outperformed the fast with none of the problems

the fast is the best, but it's expensive as ****. the only reason i have one is i got a rare deal.
also dont forget to change the cooling lines under the intake. the LS6 intake wont fit unless you swap to the 01+ lines. or can you bend them down and squeeze it on? never tried. my 6.0 is an 01, so it already had the newer style on it.

If you are going to install the LS6 intake manifold you need to either get LS6 coolant lines (like rumblebox said), or grind down the fins on the bottom of the ls6 intake manifold so it will clear the stock lines
This is where the fins need to be ground down on the LS6 intake manifold....
A comparison of LS6 intake manifold after grinding (left) and the LS1 manifold (right). You can clearly see the difference in shape between the two and why clearance is an issue.
