Value of the 4th gen...
There are cars with 50k+ on them, asking for 10k-15k. Over what Kelly blue book rates them at.
Here is my question, what do you think will happen to the price/value when the Gen 5 hits the market?
Will people that have 10-15k laying around (since most banks wont loan money on older vehicles now) still buy a 4th gen at the inflated price or will they use that money as a down payment on a 5th gen?
My opinion is that people with that money laying around will go for the 5th gen and will see the price fall on the 4th gen.
Already the cars over 10k are not really selling unless its something really special.
I think the ones asking for all the money, may want to rethink the price if they truly want to sell the car.
Whats your opinion?

The going rate also includes half the cost of aftermarket parts, but without any labor factored.
The new Camaro won't hurt car's like mine, becuase if you're looking at buying aq $5,000 car, you're not looking at buying a $35,000 car. But, I'll tell you that the founder of this Web site, who no longer is here but is running another site that's better (can't tell you which because it's filtered), is selling his STUNNING stock Sunset Orange Metalic Formula Firehawk M6 with 11,000 miles for under $25,000. That's one of the most desirable F-Bodies on the entire market bar none. That tells you how much these cars are worth: next to nothing.

I am buying a car, so it was between a Camaro and a Mustang.
I found both in the price range I wanted, I have had both. And know the pros and cons to either one.
I was just shocked at the money some people were asking for some of the cars and found myself thinking that some people are going to be in for an awakening between economy and the new Gen 5 hitting the streets. Just wondered what others though about it.
but no not really. thats like saying with the zr1 will people put their $30k toward that. no, many will be financing to get the camaro, just like many people will finance to get a bird. theres a world of difference between $10-15k and 25-30, or thered be no such thing as a taurus.
I saw a Craigslist ad yesterday for a 2000 C-5 coupe with 17k miles on it. The seller was asking $50K firm. Check over at the corvette forum and you can purchase a new C-6 for less than $43K!! Granted that's an extreme example but there are some that come close in the classifieds section here.
I will let people look at the other cheaper cars, then look at mine if they have the cash, and see the difference in the condition of a garage kept, pampered car, vs the regular 10-11 year old worn out junk.
But for the original topic It depends on your situation, I would not want a 4th gen as a daily driver myself, but I was fine with daily driving my 4th gen for 5+ years before I purchased my GTO.

Case 1: 19k mile 99z was looking for 10.5k for the car, agreed to 10k. 4.5hr trip one way and about 70 dollars in fuel and about 60 in tolls with the trailer. Car was a POS!!! Failed to mention scratches in the paint (black car, white deep scratches), interior smelled like had/has water leak (so thats new carpet and padding needed) and last but not least a leaking headgasket. WTF!!!! I tell you I am driving 4.5 hrs, ask if the car is clean...told everything is great with the car.
Case 2: 2hr drive, told the car is clean (my fault for not carfaxing it, since the guy seemed totally honest about everything on the car) Look at the car, drive the car, something seems off, look at the paint, find overspray spot on the corner of the glass. Turns out the car was a salvage. He buys them, fixes them and sells them. Oh and fails to mention the fact before wasting my time driving there. Needless to say I let him know what I thought about that.
So now I am going to pay extra just to get it over with...lol
edit: since everybody else is talking about their own cars for some reason, I got mine for $9500, with 37,000 on the clock in July, 2007
