Default what lsx for the rx7? options.... opinions wanted

well first time posting guys... hopefully you can help me make a decision

goal: 400whp on motor (at least) and 500 + with power adders (turbo or nos)

money spent: as cheap as possible. but depending on the results will spend more or less

heres my ideas from most basic to thinking more out of the box ... but mostly bang for buck, the only problem is if i do anything but an ls1 or ls2 swap ill have to source a t56 transmission which costs around 1000-1500 so im factoring that into the other engines

ls1: takeout with t56 and everything i need for around 3000- 3500 on average, i would cam it and do the basic bolt ons and aim for as close to 400 whp i could get and then gas it for 500 whp.... or just leave it stock and make 350 wheel.... hey the car only wieghs 2700 or so right?

ls2: very nice .... but probably out of my price range..... remember bang for buck

l33: aluminum block which doesnt affect the balance of the car and can be found pretty cheap every now and then.... i would slap a big t4 on it and shoot for 500 whp... very doable and probably my best option for keeping the weight down and making cheap hp ... just have to get that pricey trans

lm7: iron block ... hmm weight issues? i can get stiffer springs and i figure if i went this route id just do a rear mount turbo setup like sts and it would balance it out a lil bit.... either way you can get these things for next to nothing at 500 bucks with all the sensors and wiring ... hell at that price i could still punch it out and stroke it with forged goodies and be ready to haul.. again id have to find that tranny

lq9: iron block wieght issues.... great TORQUE, can be aquired very inexpensively as well... would be all motor or turbo ... or i could just punch it and stroke it to a 408 and turbo it and just aim for 6 or 700 hp but then id probably have to upgrade to a 8.8 ford rear... which is an added cost ontop of the money needed to be spent on the t56.... but hey itd be awesome right? haha

i have built and helped build numerous custom turbo imports.... i am a capable welder and fabricator.

i will be doing 100% of the work on this car

let me know what you guys think ... i think its either the ls1 take out or the l33/lm7 for the win.

thanks

I have seen complete ls1 motors and trannys on ebay for 2500 dollars buy it now. Cam + bolt on Ls1 will provide you 400RWHP and then a 100 pill will suit your needs.
