Pontiac isn't making the Trans Am because Chevrolet wants to be able to say that the Camaro outsells the mustang. The same thing that annoys them about Ford saying (and truthfully so) that the F150 is the best selling domestic full size truck is what caused this as well. GM wouldn't like to have to say that the F-body out sells the Mustang, so get rid of one, and you can hopefully say the camaro outsells the mustang. Simple sales pitch.
As for Firehawk on anything but a Firebird, I'm not a huge fan. Can I get a G8 Judge anyone?

You could always buy a G8 GXP, put a cam in it, and make more rwhp than this this car makes at the flywheel...

hope slp is building them as people order them cause if not they could be the next company to go down for the count. 18k for the supercharge option? Wouldn't you be better off buying a G8 and dropping it off at a shop and have them do a cam and headers and exhaust and what ever supercharger there is out there that will fit like maybe a Kenne Bell and if it doesn't fit I'm sure a procharger kit or even a magna charger . Or just give ASP a call for a twin turbo kit. The one they make for the GTO looks pretty good. 18k is a LOT of money.

This thing wont sell. 4 door with a name that represented a sleek 2 door fbody...Hmm sounds weird, its like putting the name Camaro on a 4 door Impala with a wing or something.

How much did SLP charge for the Firebird/Trans Am Firehawk package?? The only thing they really have against a WS6 is cosmetic upgrades and some minor exhaust/suspension goodies, all of which would have been scrapped if my Camaro was a Firehawk (see sig mods). There were NO engine upgrades, yet they charged a ton of money. I don't get it, what a rip off for the F-body version as well. Now the thirdgen Firehawk (which was around 200 production units), thats something to talk about!

I believe sales had something to do with it. The sales for the F body sucked so GM stopped making them. IIRC the Camaro always sold better than the t/a anyway.
As for it being a waste, you could buy a c6 for the money but could you haul 4 people in the c6 and luggace for a cross country road trip? The G8 isn't marketed to the same people as the c6 so that point is irrelevant for GM.
I think the car looks ugly (the firehawk pains scheme, I think regular G8s look good) but for the performance I would get one. It would definately surprise some m5 owners.

As for the C6 comparison. I for one wouldn't want an extra two people in the back seat so for me the car would be a waste. I mean I wouldn't mind if my wife went out and bought one. Hell I would definately go play with it but I wouldn't buy it for myself. I would take that money and buy myself a nice used vette. Or an F-body if they hand'nt stopped making it.
As far G8 hanging with a M5 I don't know about that one buddy. I love GM but a BMW aint no joke. I rode in my buddies 540 series(V8), and that car was wicked fast and wasn't even an M series. Not only did it have the power, it handled it like nothing I have ever experienced. Damn thing took corners like it was on a rail. I have never seen a car that had that much power and that much control at the same time. Now he test drove an M5 and according to him it made his feel like a 6 banger in comparison. Now GM is claiming they have achieved the same thing in this G8? I wanna see some numbers cause I ain't buyin that, we'll see.

If they do get orders for them, then good for SLP. Unfortunately for those who buy them SLP will probably not support replacement parts for it after about 5-6 years. Just like they do for the Firebird (Firehawks). I can't even get replacement floor mattes let alone a replacement spoiler for mine. So buyer beware.
