cant you find ls3 c6's in the 30k-40k range? thats right around where the new camaro would be. id shop around and try to find one, if not the c5 z06 hands down.

used, low mileage LS3 C6 > new SS camaro > c5z06

only reason why....c6 and ss are still under warranty

If it were me, I'd look around for an LS3 C6, if not get the new SS, with a C5 being my third choice and would only ever even consider with under 10-20k miles and in perfect condition. But then again, it's all up to you and what you are looking for in your ride and how much you are willing to spend and if you want to mod or not. Good luck!

If you're performance oriented then get the C5Z or an LS3 C6. Both are 600-700 pounds lighter than the SS which makes a big difference in both acceleration and handling. I guarantee the C5Z will run circles around the SS at a road course as well (same w/ an LS3 Z51 C6). The SS has more performance potential with the bigger motor but again it needs it with all those extra pounds. If you're more into the coolness factor and making people turn their heads to look when you drive by then either the SS or the C6. I went from a 427 RWHP Trans Am and the C5Z stock is just as quick and handles like it's on rails compared to the F-bod...hard to not go with something so badass right out of the box. Once my AFR's and custom cam go in this month it's going to be really fun! Oh and for the guy with the warranty comment...you can still get a used C5Z with a GM extended warranty. Bought my '02 14 months ago and paid for a 3 yr 24K mile GM bumper to bumper warranty from the dealer.

thanks guys, the cars are so hard to pick a choice, i think if i went a new SS i would want to mod it but wouldn't for a while cuz i wouldn't want to lose the warranty, and with a c5Z i wouldn't really worry about the warranty being its already a 5-7 year old car already, yet again i would really like to have a orange M6 2SS w/ the orange lined leather with some nice 5 spoke chrome 18s on it(20's are way to big and heavy for the car). plus i haven't had a new car before and i am really wanting one which turns me more towards the camaro..

Are you keeping your car? If you are then maybe get the SS. My plan after college is to get a new SS or Z and then mod the crap out of my current Z. That way you have a reliable, nice, badass, under warranty DD and the modded street/strip car.

If you are selling your car which is what I was assuming earlier, I would get the Z06 so you can mod it and it has more potential in my opinon.

see so in that case you are gonna be driving the new car alot more then and your current SS is going to be the real toy right? so i would get the new camaro in that instance. you get the 100k mile warranty, plenty of power out of the box, more modern and most likely more refined car, and one sick *** ride!

If you were to wait about another year or willing to spend a tad more right now you could get a C6 Z06. Used C6Z's are in the 40s now.

I would definately go C5Z but I'm a little biased. C5Zs are a lot cheaper than a new loaded SS, will perform better than the SS in every way, for atleast the next 18 months they will have more aftermarket support, tuning on them is more sophisticated than it is on the LS3s, and it doesn't have the displacement that the LS3 has but 5.7L +boost has plenty of potential for power. Also if your worried about mileage the C5Z will probably get better MPG (weight and less displacement).

I don't see a reason to get a new SS unless you like their styling that much or, like someone said earlier, you want you want to be the first one on the block to have one.

Def take your time and look for a c6 with the ls3..same engine as the camaro but lighter..I personally witnessed an 08 c6 with the ls3 dyno 390 to the wheels, more than the camaro that dynoed at livernois(check you tube) and plus the new SS looks too close to the V6 for me...everybody and their mom is gonna be in that car..like a charger, then there's the "Vette" factor...no matter what you do to any f-body or how fast it is, it is not and never will be a "VETTE"....I'm just saying
