Once you upgrade valvetrain only the rod bolts become suspect in spinning 6500+ rpm. I for one have a 6600 rev limiter now after mods. spinning to 6400 in 2nd off stock gears is kinda fun since you get to such a high speed, but 3.42's are dog gears compared to 4.10. Night and day difference once you mod + gears... heck gears alone.

hmmm...my ss has camaro ss emblem around the radio bezel...i have z28 tips because i got a good deal on a borla muffler with the tips already welded, but he should double check the vin# to make sure it is an ss...i think all SS came with 342's and some z28's came with 273 or 323's, should be another indication of a z28...but regardless seems like a good deal...but maybe you can knock some money off if you prove the seller wrong.

Well we sometimes all forget that these LS1 cars in stock trim are actually pretty beastly by passenger car standards! But yeah the power is something we always want more of. No matter what, bottom line! Nice ride.

The dash plaque some of you are referring to is an option and is not standard. However the exhaust tips and the fact the center caps appear to be blank would concern me. As far as the Carfax goes they will show up as Z28's so that doesn't really mean anything either.
To the OP - check the drivers door for the service label and make sure you have a WU8 RPO code. I don't want to be negative, I just wouldn't want you to pay for something you aren't getting.

if it has the wu8 code, it is the SS. so that's put to rest.
the rev limiter should have stepped in before you get to 85mph though. what rpm were you shifting at?
congratulations on your purchase - that sounds like a really nice find at a good price.

Congrats on the camaro. And if you like the slowmaster sound just leave it. Its still better than stock. Wait until you have the cash and do headers back at once.
