Default Ftra

I just got done installing my fast toys ram air on my 98 trans am and was rather disappointed, I was hoping to be able to feel the increase in power. I have been doing basically a mod a week for the past three weeks and really haven't felt a difference. The FTRA, PandP TB and TC. Is it that my car isn't responding well to the mods or are these little more inexpensive mods just not gonna do it until I have headers and an intake?

You want to feel a difference? Throw some gears in there, 3.42 or 3.73 perhaps? This is a seat of the pants mod, you will feel it.

I wouldn't mess with a tune until you have more done. The FTRA and P&P TB are nice supporting mods, but they would both probably show a little better results with a LS6 intake instead of you LS1 intake. A tranny cooler is just gonna help the life of your tranny, not gonna notice any gains there.

I didnt feel any difference in any mod I ever did until I installed my h/c/i, then I felt a big difference when I installed the 9" with 4.10s.

Lid, filter, ported TB, headers, ORY, catback. I felt no difference with any of it.Had I done it all at once im sure I would have felt a difference though.

|Does anyone have a write up on the free ram air mod? Would this be of benefit or is it a waste of time?

I have the FTRA. Let's just say that I'm glad I bought it used and paid 50% of retail.

I've come to the conclusion that all these little mods are a waste of money. Yes, I know they all add up over time, and support bigger mods, but for all the money you spend on them for little or no SOTP gain, you could go right to a gear or converter swap for the same money and have an instant result.

Most mods won't be that noticable unless you do something serious like H/C. I put Long tubes and roller rockers on my Firehawk and it pretty much felt the same. I doubt you can tell the difference between 20-30 hp when you're in the car. Only a dyno or track will you actually see the difference. In no way are mods like these a waste of money, IMO.

I didn't notice a difference when I did a lid, filter, ported TB, FRA and the other small mods, or if I thought I did it was probably a mental thing. When I did H/C/I/LTs/ORY on the other hand...it's a very different car.

My first 2 mods for more hp were a lid, then LTs. I really didnt notice much, mainly how sweet the exhaust sounds with the LTs. Someone before me installed some 3.73s. I just installed an LS6 intake, that really woke the car up. Got my cam stuff coming so that will wake it up a lil more.
