Call the number there and press whatever number it is to go to customer service. They need the last 8 of the VIN and they will tell you if its real and what the build # is. Just did this myself last week.

If the parts in your signature were installed by SLP you should have red and white SLP stickers on the door jams with these parts listed as additional SLP content.
And the RPO codes for an SS are WU8 and Y2Y

the y2y was only if you had extra stuff installed by slp and have the sticker on the passenger side door jamb as well. so its possible it doesnt have the y2y. just look for the wu8.

Gotta ask - and this isn't a shot at the SS Guys...
...but why does it matter? Really? If you love your car, does it really matter if it was an SS when it was born or was made one along the way? These aren't collector's cars yet. It isn't 2040 and we have some rare piece of automotive history. The SS was essentially a hood, a spoiler and wheels.
...if the SS had a different motor or performance options (that most people change anyways) then it might be a worry. IMHO.

They did nothing except put the minimum SS parts on it and sent it out.
I also have a 2002 Z28, the RPO code list on the two cars is damn near identical except for the WU8 and Y2Y
My SS has no red and white stickers and I got the car a long time ago with very low miles.

If a guy wants to ask about his car, let him know what you know.
Doesn't matter to me if he wants to know.
