Talking Went from Flowmaster to Magnaflow. My opinion

I always loved flowmaster sound and have always heard to keep it for the sound because its only like a 4-5 hp loss (hp loss varies depending on who you talk to). Well maybe thats on a stock engine without mods or something because it definitely feels more than that and i felt a nice difference. Maybe its the more mods you have, the more you will notice it. Im for sure it was more than a 4-5 hp gain though. I didnt think it would be that much of a difference but it is. So do i think the switch was worth it? Hell yea! and if you dont have magnaflow or hooker or anything other than chokemaster get it and take that crap off unless your really really love the way your car sounds. Now its time to throw a cam in a get dynotuned

lol.. borla sounds good also. it may be loud but lets hope not 2 loud..my magnaflow is way more quiet than the flowmaster was which is to be expected. It gives it that sleeper feel now which i like and i dont have to rol up my windows or blast my radio loud just to hear it lol

definitely im still trying to decide which cam to get. im thinking about 224/224 or 228/228. i jsut dont want to give up alot of gas mileage since its still pretty much my daily driver. How is your gas mileage?

o ok. Yea go ahead and do it when you have the money. Its worth it! You have good mods and probably losing a nice chuck of power with the chokemaster. Plus it will quiet it down so its a win win situation on your part

Suprisingly I can still pull 20+ mpg when just crusing (6 speed). When making several WOT shifts I get about 8-10mpg but dual fuel pumps, 60# injectors, and a blower will do that to your fuel economy . I had a thunder racing tr224 cam in my first set up and it was a great cam but after a few weeks I wished I had gone bigger. I'd go with a 228 if it were me.

Thanks man. No track times yet, I just got my dual fuel pumps in about 2 weeks ago and I have to go back to the dyno for more tuning, I ran out of fuel the first time and we never took the engine higher than 5,500rpms so I need a few more hours of tuning and then she'll FINALLY be done. Hoping to get it done in the next 2 weeks.

I've had magnaflow for about a month now, I have been very happy with it. My one on the left stock exhaust was a bit quieter, but not much. Overall though a much nicer tone that is deeper and doesn't bother me at all on the highway. Plus I got it for cheap from Maryland Speed.

i have had both and the magnaflow responds/flows much better but the flowmaster has a much deeper sound to it.

im going with a borla xr1 now though

fo those of you with the magnaflow get a e-cutout so that you can have it loud when you want it to be loud

i dont know if it is because mine is cammed or my exhaust is older, but my magnaflow is loud as $#&& at anything over 2500 rpm. pacesetters, off road y, and f 13 cam.

The borla catback with the right side open you might as well run an open pipe back to the bumper. That is basically what it is without a plate in it.

I bought my car with the borla on it. Had no plate in the right side at all, so it was rediculously loud. Too loud IMHO. Now I am running a full blockoff plate on the right side with no tailpipe, so all the exhaust goes through the muffler. It is pretty quiet at idle, but has a nice mellow tone to it. At WOT it wakes up pretty good and isn't really raspy like it was open.

just installed my magnaflow today... i dont know who calls this catback quiet but they must have had their ears filled with **** when they heard it... this thing is LOUD... idle is quiet but like you said, anything above 2500 rpm she screams...

To be honest i like the sound of my flowmaster better... kinda wish i would have just installed a e-cutout instead...

Seems like a cam makes this magnaflow loud. I see the ppl that say its loud past 2500rpm also has a cam so maybe thats why. I dont have one yet so its pretty quiet.

And yea i forgot about the e-cutout i guess that would be the only reason to keep flowmaster other than just for the sound is if you install a e-cutout

Magnaflow here and I love it. On my old 94 T/A I had a stock exhaust then went the Flowmaster route when I was young and thought it was the ****. About a year later I went to SLP and had them install the Loudmouth 1, damn than bitch was ridic loud. Got tired of the horrible drone and eventually sold the car and bought my 99 T/A and have the Magnaflow, best by far IMO.
