Looking for opinions on a partial clutch change on the cheap.
I'm swapping a blown-up engine out of a C5 Vette on a very tight budget. The clutch disk is a little thin so I'm going to change it, but I dont want to change the pressure plate/flywheel if I can get away with it. Any opinions on this? The car has 100k on it, but its not going to be raced or abused too much. I know it's a bear to change the clutch on a Vette with the engine installed, but I am very broke right now and only got this car because it was cheap with the dead engine. I might also change out the throwout bearing, but not if it looks OK. How many miles have some of you guys gotten out of the stock stuff? I'd like to make it another 30k with just a disk change. BTW, C5 corvettes are very unpleasant to work on.

well i think it would just be better to get a new stock type replacment cluth instead of trying to do it on the cheap because most of the time you will end up with problems.
also a 100k on the pressure plate is a good amount of miles.
if your not going to race it or drive it hard get a new kit from advance or other parts store but the ls7 cluth kit would be the best bet and i think(but not a 100% shure) that you can get a ls7 kit for about 400 or so.

Can't buy just a disk
You are right on the clutch. I've been looking everywhere and can't get just a disk anyway. I'm hoping to find the whole matched setup used with lower miles but may not have any luck there either.
