Blackwing was the optional lid. All the cars came with the huge baffled lid unless they had the blackwing option.

I have personally never seen an SS with rectangle tipped exhaust but it is possible that they would have been special ordered.
All `98-02 SS cars use the same base airbox ONLY the WS6 Cars got a taller box Blackwings were only optional in 2002.

`97 SS's orderd without the SLP exhaust option came with the standard Z28 exhaust and it's square tips.
