Heads or Rear end??
#43
Well I've been there done that and like I have recommended to all my buddies, get a rear end before doing many power mods. I decided to go for the power and did heads/cam and kept the 10 bolt and it was a major mistake. I broke the 10 bolt twice after the added power. First time was on the 1-2 shift. It just exploded the torsen unit. The second time, (yes, I was cheap and got a used torsen for free from a bud, and got a new gear set and tried it AGAIN) it broke the differential and stripped ALL the teeth off the pinion, and destroyed the ring gear as well.
I went for two yrs not being able to put the power I had to the ground, cause every time I tried it broke.
I would rather be able to use every bit of power I had, then to be handicapped and have to baby it or worry about it leaving me stranded. With the 10 bolt, it's not a matter of IF, it's WHEN. And it'll be sooner, than later, in most cases.

Looks like I missed the pic too!
Sweet choice going with AFRs, but I'm sticking to my recommendation. Keep the street tires and try to avoid hard 1-2 shifts, (like it'll hook in 1st with street tires anyway) and maybe you'll have the money saved for the rear before it goes.

Def rear end......after bolt ons- built the basic stuff next- brakes, rear end/gears, suspension etc.......the pour on the power. Your car runs just fine with the heads the way they are but break the rear and see how far you get.
