Default Heads or Rear end??

If had a choice, what would you buy first? The way I see it, I do mainly road racing so I'm not on tires, and it's usually from a roll. Obviously a new 8.8 with a 4.30 gear is going to seem alot faster than my stocker w/3.42's. Now with AFR 205's and my 3.42's...this bitch will scream from say...a 30 kick. Question tho...say I put my MT street radials on and do a 30 kick with roughly 450rwhp...will it break? I think i'll be ok since I used to spray a 150 shot from a roll and had no issues. Pros, cons, lemme know.

But did you change the gear? Mine's held up to 400+whp for awhile now with no issues. I know it's a ticking time bomb, just wanted to get some opinions. If I'm on street tires it should protect it somewhat.

i would do a rear end. that way it can take the abuse and the power you throw at it.

I'm still on the 10 bolt and cringe every time I hit a hard shift. Granny shifting is Teh Suxorz.

It depends on you.... I am the kind of guy who wants to make power first and deal with the consequences later. BTW I am currently "rearend shopping" since mine is about to dump I finally get my KR issues fixed and can't get any times cause next time at the track on DR's I know I will need a ride home

Since you have a M6 I would say get the rear end. I would look into the Midwest Fab. 9".

If you were an auto I would go with heads and take my chances.

I'm set on an 8.8 whenever I do the rear end...about $1000 less than a 9", will handle my power levels fine, and won't lose as much power. I'm thinking of doing heads tho b/c that will only be $1000 more than the installed rear end...and if it breaks I can just order the rear end lol. I don't see it breaking on street tires if I'm roll racing..

If you're throwing MTs on it and making that kind of power, get the rear.

just for reference, i broke my 10 bolt about 2 weeks ago from shifting hard on hot asphalt...and im bone stock! im a six speed 9obviously) but ****, just goes to show, some are luckier than others. if you road race, i doubt youll need a rear since you wont be shocking the drivetrain all the time with launches.

I see where you are coming from. I catch most of my races from a roll as well. Unless luck is on my side, 1st and most of 2nd don't hook for **** but I bet it would feel good if it did.

I'm leaning towards a rear though. Making power is great but if you can't put it down to the ground, what's the point? I've been itching to pick up some Nitto 555r's but I'm scared that the 10 bolt will give out. Think of what your car could do now with traction from a 1st gear roll.
