Well at least they got a "safe tune" on the car so they could drive it in & out of the shop. If they charged $250 for just a before dyno, I wonder how much theyre charging for the dynotune? That entire bill is VERY hard to imagine. Must be the worlds hardest vette to work on

Heyyy they got money in their pocket, so that probably makes it even more comfortable for them to sleep at night.

There is nothing wrong with taking your car to a shop,
the problem is people that are too stupid to get a written estimate
and do their homework on what the work and parts should cost.

I saw that thread when it was first posted, so I may be wrong, but...

..didn't the guy, in fact, DO his homework? He said something about it being more than 2x what his "worst case scenario" price was, based on his research..

...I think it comes down to two things: 1) getting shafted by a scummy shop and 2) not getting a written estimate before the work was started.

Does that include a new LS3 maybe a LS7?

WTF, that is a insane price. . . . I harass shops all day long. . .

Last time I took a car to a shop was about 3 years ago. It was a brand new VW (POS), I had them do about 2k worth of work. I just did not want to do it myself, it would have cost me about 400 Bucks to do it all myself.

I gave them a Grand in cash, the owner dude was happy with that. . . It came out to be about 55 Bucks a work hour.
