The car is a nearly stock daily driver. It needs to remain perfectly drivable and dependable. I am thinking of installing an aftermarket 9" rear for when I go to the track and just to have a stronger piece in general. Can the 9" work well for a daily driver?

If you're running it at the track you should do the upgrade if you want to be safe.

I would, but make sure you want to keep your car. If you sell it, you'll only get a faction of what you paid for your 9". ( unless you take it out of the car )

and I do want to keep this car. I just want it to be safe and dependable considering I drive it quite a bit (200 miles a week avg) and go to the track every now and then. I don't want to have it break at the track or something stupid to happen and have it out of commission.

Congrats. You'll love the peace of mind that comes with having a bullet proof rear.

Best place to start at the rearend, if you ever decide to modify it the 9" will handle what ever you throw at it. I started at the engine and have broken the rearend and the transmission. wish i would have done the rearend first then the tranny and engine.

You made a good choice for the M6. Now you can sell your working 10 bolt to someone and recoup some of the costs instead of waiting for it to break.

yeah.. the more I thought of what I want to do mod-wise to this car.. the more I kept thinking about the rear and how it would hold up. I thought about risking it.. but I'd rather be having fun racing my car instead of worried most of the time.

if you happen to sell the car later on the road, save your 10 bold, maybe re-shim it if its making noise. if you do sell it, just swap the stock rear back in, and get a good chunk of change for the 9in or re-use it
