Wrecked my TA during college. My Dad gave me a car to drive to finish school, my Sisters "Chevette" she abandon after her college.(at least it had A/C) It was kind of liberating to shoe horn that thing into a six foot space and not have a care. Never even washed it. Finally broke a timing belt sitting at a MAJOR intersection. Got all my **** and walked. They finally towed it, don't know what ever happened to it.

You don't have to love it, just use it.
Parking close to the entrance for once. So good. Try it, you'll like it.

Careful, its an addiction. My 143,000 mile 2002 Acura TL gets parked anywhere. I've actually found that parking in the spot directly adjacent to the cart barn minimizes cart related accidents. Thats the only spot in lot where the carts are where they are supposed to be. Just a recent development i thought i'd share, ha.

well, you drive a lot.. so it makes sence to buy something cheap to drive and thats reliable.. thats what a DD is supposed to be. It sounds like you bought the DD expecting it to be more?

Like somebody else said you can make the civic fast. If you want, get a b18 from a wrecked integra gsr and put it in the civic.. with minimal work it will beat a gt stang and be done in a day. of course you can get a fast DD but is'nt the point in having a DD is something cheaper to drive than your other car?

or ****, buy a street motorcycle... a 600 is fast and more comfortable to ride longer on (vs a 1000), 120hp in 500lbs (including you) great gas mileage, mine gets about 50mpg.. insurance is just over 100 for 6 months for full coverage.. you can take the whole damn thing apart with an allen wrench set and a 10mm wrench.. as long as you will respect it and remember doing something stupid can kill you, you will be fine.. I love riding mine.. I take the long way to work now and I'm saving money

if you re-read what i said, i was not knocking the 3rd gens. i was saying i like them and hate when people treat them like trash.

please dont tell me that. i dont want to have to drive other cars more often lol. theres a nice prelude i might pic up for a DD, cant decide if i want another stick though. everytime i drive a car other than my own, ill always see something cool that id like to get a run or two in with.

Yeah, I knew not to expect much. It just feels so awkward, almost unsafe because its so slow. Look at my Fquick in sig, I use to ride all the time for about 6 years. I got in trouble 3 years back and since then have sold my bikes. After awhile I just didnt feel like riding to work on bike anymore too.

As mentioned I planned on getting rid of truck, but this civic may be the first to go. I honestly was leaning more towards a used M5, M3, C6 Z and didn't want to put so much deprecitiation on it so I got this thing. So I may just reconsider a used base C6 as my only vehicle.

Man I got my car back yesterday. last time I drove it was bolt on, I was sent on a 3 month training TDY in Ft Stewart. For the last two weeks, Ive been bouncing in and out of my gf's car and my 93 silverado. When I got back in my now cammed TA it felt like a rocket ship compared to the rest lol

well what you should have done is picked up a swapped honda civic at a similar price or less with like 200 wheel on just motor.... that with a sub 2500 lb curb weight would be alot of fun and not that slow( and handle great if it had suspension goodies)..... and make great gas mileage at that.... but either way its about gas mileage and a beater .... not being the fastest....

if you want to go fast, get a fast car again!

i still think you should try driving a nice modded civic ... they can be had for like 5k

Well two things I was trying to accomplish with this before stepping into a fast car again:
1. Quick Depreciation
2. MPG's

After driving for a few days with it, it just went downhill trying to adjust.

If you really want to talk about slow DD's. I drive an 86 FWD toyota corolla. It's carb'd and is slower than christmas but oh well it will get me there. Also has a push button start and fans on a toggle lol.

I did a similar thing in 1989. I sold a 1972 RS/SS Camaro 350 with a 4-speed that had a LOT of engine work done to it plus a 12-bolt with 4.56 gears. I bought a new Escort GT and it was pure hell. I put 3500 miles on the Escort and sold it and now only own V-8 powered vehicles! Front wheel drive is NOT for me nor is 4-cylinder power unless it is on a motorcycle.

You guys with LS1's have it so good. I have a 98 S-10 with a 4 banger that gets me around. On a good day it maybe has 120rwhp if that, but at least it gets some looks and it gets 24mpg in town.

Well, I couldn't make it a week with this car. I drove my truck to work today, difference beyond night and day. I'm selling it as soon as I get the title, got a cashiers check to pay off the loan from previous owner.

And for the record my old SS got 24mpg hwy, mixed driving it avg about 19. I always was liked power over mpg's. Depreciation was my main concern, but if I dont enjoy my drive what is point.

In my particular case, Im gonna say its justifiable.
Priority #1. Powwa!!!

I tried to go the smart route for a while and it blows. So, now I have four fun vehicles & carpool in my buddies car to save them all mileage and depreciation! It's awesome...

I remember as a kid thinking how awesome it would be to soup up a golf cart and haul *** down the roads. I just found something the same size with 45 mpg. The fortwo smart car. ten grand. That **** is cheap for brand new. I bet It'd be a wicked fun ride being such a small death trap! That's be a pretty good DD alternatve.
